Default amsoil recharging alternatives

just curious if you can use another "million mile" filter charger for the amsoil drop in's? say K$N or something else similar.

wouldn't do it... the amsoil oil is made for foam and the k&n for cotton gauze... 2 different things... the amsoil oil isn't that expensive anyways...

Besides, the Amsoil filter oil is a lot more tacky (catches and holds dirt better).

Go to your local motorcycle dealer/tuner. Unifilter is the #1 dirtbike, ATV, etc filter and they are all foam. You can usually find several foam filter oil brands on the shelf and they are sticky as hell. I'm running a Unifilter right now and like it (FYI, the MRT Rampod CAI for the WRX is a unifilter).

Default Applying Amsoil Filter oil

Why can't you put their (Amsoil) filter oil in a spray bottle and spray it on? Maybe some people already do this, but I haven't heard of any. Maybe it's too thick and tacky, if not, this would be a logical way to apply it.

Wink

The Amsoil recharing oil is pretty viscous at room temperature so it would be hard to get it to work with a spray bottle.

One tip is to heat the bottle of filter oil in a hot water bath before applying it to the filter. The oil flows a lot easier and makes application a bit easier.

Also, try applying the oil with the filter in a plastic bag. That way, you don't have to directly touch the filter while working the oil in.

The motorcycle filter oils are typically aerosol and go on very thin but thicken with exposure to the air. Ask Texas25rs how tacky the filter oil is on my Unifilter.
