Default CEL P0301 P0303

My 02 WRX Wagon 5sp has 15k on it. History is as follows:

4100 Miles: P0303 & P0301 - Car idles rough hesitates at 2500prm
-ECU Sent to SOA for Reprogram
-CEL's go away, idling persists

7300 Miles P0301 Car still idling Rough
-Reset ECU
-Problem persists with idle

9840 Miles - Bank 1 too lean (i Forget the CEL Code)
-Replace 02 Sensor
-Idling improves, hesistation remains

14850 - P0301
-Idling still rough, car stalls occasionally at idle when A/C gets turned OFF.
Dealer schedule appt, going to check plugs in 1 & 3 for wear.

Trans: 5mt
Miles: 9,703
Date: 6/14/02
Codes: P0301, P0302, P0303 (Misfire in all but cylinder 4)

I let Auto Zone pull the codes for me and clear them since they do it for free.

It was about 60 degrees and fairly humid early in the morning when it went on. The car displayed no unusual behavior; just the slight hesitation on boost like it always does when it's cold. Got it cleared after work and drove 20 miles home and it hasn't recurred.

My only engine mods are the intake silencer removal and the 3/16" mod.

my cel blinks every couple of days. it has been on for 3 months now. keep dropping the car off at the dealer and they keep telling me to pay.

starting to get real pissed.

from what i remember, the code was a misfire in 1, 2, 3 and 4 all at different times:
0MPH
9MPH
45mph

EACH ONE DIFFERENT FROM THE NEXT.
i have the GND mod and the SPT muffler. my warranty is void.

I don't understand why your warranty would be void. Did your dealer give you a reason?

Gusman21: Please ask the dealer, and let us know the answer. I realize this may be more appropriate to the "Warranty Issues & Problems" forum, but either way it is very important that people know.

Default CEL - multiple times

Car: WRX 2002
Transmission: Manual
VIN: (need to look up)

CEL Code - P1904 (not a valid code).

Taking to dealer to check on this - has done it a few times (every 500-600 miles, but now it does it almost every other time I start the car).

Note: also, the car appears to go into limp mode when this cel is received, but runs perfectly fine after resetting the code.

Of and on for the last 9000 miles or so (roughly).

P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor. Dealer replaced under warranty.

About a month later, same thing. Dealer said everything is ok. Cleared code.

Then over the last 2 months..on and off..bucking..hesitation..on and off..blah blah blah. Dealer said everything is ok. Remove your BOV, that's causing it <--riiiiight! So i did it anyways...200 miles later.. on again.

Finally got it back to the dealer this week..car is back to stock except for uppipe (it was happening way before i had my uppipe). Dealer called SOA and they said to ship the ECU back for a reprogram.

hopefully this will cure it. right now that corolla they gave me is gutless! hehehe

Only other code i got was a Cat Inefficiency code. Had AutoZone clear it for me for free.

The first 4 cel's I reset myself until I got smart about this. The first ones were due to fueling up w/ car running, loose gas cap, poor gas ...ect.

WRX 02 Sedan
* transmission : Manual
* what date/mileage : 21,000 and 24,500 (1.5months apart)
* what code was retrieved by the dealer: P0325 and P0302
* name of dealer: Luther Subaru/Acura
* what action the dealer took: Sent ecu out for reprogram, Found #2 fuel injector to be failing and replaced it.

I placed the dealship on notice in writing that I plan on invoking the MN Lemon Law if I experience further problems with the car. Oh and I am on windshield #2.

i replaced my EGT sensor a while back because ANOTHER dealer said that it failed. hmmm...looks like i have a wiring short.

WRX '02
Manual Tranny
~9500 & ~9550
CODE P0546

The code occured twice on 08/10/2002, both while I was cruising ~65-75MPH. I pulled the codes with my obd2 reader. I have an uppipe, turboback, and unichip so I can't bring it to the dealership anymore. Did a search and found out that this was a common problem. I will do the 2.2 kohm resistor mod to eliminate the CEL. I do have an EGT & A/F gauge and everything read fine when the CEL came on.

I'd remove it and go to another dealer. Or have they made some permanent note in your file?

Default P0301

* WRX '02 Sedan
* MT
* ~9000 miles
* 09/08/02
* CEL P0301 - Misfire in Cyl 1
* ECU pulled and shipped for a reflash

Was sitting at idle with car warm when the CEL came on. RPM's were 807 and speed was 0 mph. The only thing of note was filling up at a diff. gas station the day before (Shell 93oct.) and cycling the air on and off at idle....(was drying my hands with the A/C).

Does anyone know what Subaru does when they reflash the ECU? Do they change the tolerances for the code?

i have searched for this error, but there isnt really any info on it... and i have no idea what anything in that sentance means.... maybe an o2 sensor?

You must have meant P0453- Evaporative emission control system pressure sensor range/performance problem.

Th factory service manual recommends you check that the fuel filler cap is tightened securely and the pressure/vacuum lines between the fuel tank and its pressure sensor. Also check for leakage/disconnection/clogging of the air ventilation hoses and pipes between the fuel filler pipe and the fuel tank.
