Default Cabin air filter change (MY 99+)

Just an FYI - I changed out the cabiin air filter on our 02 OB VDC today and documented the procedure. I was expecting a cake walk like my RS is but I was sorely mistaken. Not hard by any means just a PITA:

Glad I did it though it was kind of skurfey:

PS: I was kind of pissed, my OB only had one of the two filters that was supposed to be installed at the factory...

Which years/models did the filters come on?

99 on according to my install directions (and the subject title that says MY 99+ ). Not all have them installed but you'd only need to get the filter to install it.

Ok, allow me to rephrase that... what all years/models is it compatible with, was what I really wanted to know.

But, you are saying that if I buy the filter kit, it will slide right into my '98?

No only the new design, sorry. I had a 97 and that couldn't use one either that was similar in design to the 98. The 99 - 04 can take the filters

The new design started in '00 in USA / Canada. Started in '99 elsewhere.

Peaty - Thanks for the pics and write up. I'll have to change the filters in my Mom's car in the near future.

The top of my instructions says 99 but that must be a universal kit then. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll change the directons.
