Knowing that alot of SVX owners have been severely screwed over by dealerships/mechanics I thought I would start a 'Good/Bad Dealership' list. I put up the first 'Good Dealership' myself.
VERY GOOD: Cumberland Valley Motors 6714 Carlisle Pike Mechanicsburg Pa 17013 717-697-9448 http://cvmsubaru.com I bought my MY94 SVX LSI from them almost 2 years ago. The dealership employees have treated me with the amount of respect that typically you find a $80k Mercedes owner getting. They have alway been completely respectful and quick to take care of any needs that I have had. Their prices I find to be very fair and the quality of work from the mechanics has always been top notch. They seem to take as much pride in my car as I do. Upon getting my SVX back from any visit that has required work being done to the car it has always come back washed and vacumed --Nice touch I could go on and on but I think you get the idea -- CVM is a great dealership in my opinion. Two thumbs up!!!!!!!!!! B.C. ![]() P.S. SVXers, Please add any dealership that you have had good and bad experiences with. Hopefully it will help those who need work down the proverbial road from being screwed. edit = messed up pic address -- oops [This message has been edited by Never2phat (edited November 12, 2000).]

The GOOD:
Findlay Subaru of Las Vegas. The building the dealership is in looks like crap. But the service is gold standard. It's down by the Showboat Casino, in an iffy part of Las Vegas, but they are well worth it. The BAD: Fuccilo Subaru of Las Vegas. I'm sorry, I just did not get the warm fuzzies when I went there. Once. For an oil change, when the mechanic who would work on my car insisted that the lower engine shield had to be removed to get at the filter (It doesn't). |

Good:
Carlsen Subaru, Redwood City CA I've owned my '92 SVX LS-L for a little over a year now. I've taken it to Carlsen Subaru twice since then for some repairs (front axle, tranny filter, power steering pump, alignment check, ...). No washing/vacuuming or mints on my seat but they do quality work. Anything they've fixed/replaced for me I've not had a problem with since. On a different note: last time I took my SVX there (about a month ago) they had a '96 red SVX with about 36k on it for $19k if anyone's interested. happy svx == happy svx owner ![]() [This message has been edited by zensvx (edited November 14, 2000).] |

Bad:
Thomas Subaru, Phoenix, Arizona. The sales group is fine. The service department is the worst bunch of morons I've ever seen. And I've been to a moron convention as a judge. They can't seem to do anything right. And this was all from my MY00 Impreza. Screwed up window tint, wrong gauge pack that took 3 months to get, and many other countless acts of stupidity. But, the sales office was great. |

Al is a good guy, knowledgeable to say the least, and he loves my car.
but... He informed me that my car would be done in a week. After 3 weeks, i went there to the parts departement, asked when my parts were in, and the parts guy said they all were in two days ago. So then i goto the service area, and ask when my cars gonna be done. He replied, next week sometime. I was pisssed! So i found the owner, told him my story, and i left the building. As i left, my car was being pulled in. So at least i got them to work on it. Then, they forgot to order a part, so i had to wait another day. And three weeks earlier, i called them and made an appointment for 8am to change oil etc. I called them the morning of the appointment around 7 and told them i wasnt into waiting all day for the car, and if they would like, give me an EXACT time to have the car there, so i can get in and out fast. They said, come at 1pm. I came at 1pm, didnt leave till 3pm. I was PISSSED. And after all that, they know i mean business. Specially the owner. Suby |

For the Charleston, WV area: "it depends"
Overall, I've had better luck at Suburban Subaru in St. Albans. All they sell is Subaru and lately they've done a pretty good job. Jeff Morris Subaru in Charleston is also a Suzuki dealership. They tend to be more of the "well we didn't hear/see/notice the problem" kind of garage. |
