Default STi alarm in an 02?

I was at a dealership the other day checking out the STi and a dealer came out to show me everything. When he unarmed the car, it had a Mercedes style chime to it, instead of the horn honking. I like the chime a lot more because I hate scaring people when I get in and out of my car. I know that I can turn the honking off, but I still want people to know that I have an alarm.

So does anyone know if this would be possible?

I am not sure as to if that is possible. But I do agree the STi does have a much more appealing "chirp". But the STi does'nt come with a security system stock. Just to clear that up, the chirp is just for locking and unlocking not a arm and disarm notification.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think Alpine makes the alarm system for the STi. You could probably buy it from a local Alpine dealer. There is a chime on the alarm to let you know its lock/unlock, but depending on the number of times you push the button, the car will beep and flash the parking lights.

I think all the 04's have the same alarm. I don't think it is just on the STI. It is nicer than the 02-03 though.

I don't know why you couldn't go to an alarm installer and order a chirper or whatever another alarm system uses that you like and remove the horn for your rex and wire that one in instead. They should all be 12 volts dc.

I don't know for sure but I would guess you'd need to buy the whole alarm system from subaru. An aftermarket shop could prolly do what you want though.
