Default Corona Rally looks to be on the 2004 WRC Schedule

http://www.worldrallynews.com/cgi-bi...4047220,58606,

The FIA has added Mexico to it's provisional 2004 Calender. We'll know for sure once the Formula 1 Calender is completed. One of the Mediterranean rallies is likely to be dropped.

Cool, its a nice start for us North Americans.

A trip to Mexico is somewhat realistic for me! I hope its a spring event. That would work nicely for me.

The rally is based out of Leon, Mexico which is a decent sized place. They have accomodations listed on the website. www.rallymexico.com.

It runs the 2nd week of March usually. But who knows when it might run based on the WRC calendar. I wouldn't be at all surprised though if they canned the rally of turkey for next year and ran it during that week.

Stay at the Fiesta Americana in downtown Leon, a bit pricey but worth it. The Estancia and the Nuevo Estancia across the steet are less pricey - good bargins. There is a Carlos and Charlies next to the Estancia that gets hopping at night. There are several other hotels in town, but I would NOT recommend any of them. Stay away from the "hotels" on the main drag from the airport to downtown unless you don't mind paying by the hour.

If anyone does end up going down let me know. I may, if I can work out a business trip with it. Even if I don't go I can point you in the right or even the wrong direction depending upon your request.

I attended the Corona Rally Mexico this year, I was servicing for Wyeth Gublemen(great team, good people) in his WRX STI group N car.

Leon, and the surrounding areas are sectacular, great food, great site seeing, and great food, and great food. Oh, and there are beautiful women everywhere down there too.

The start is in an ancient city which name I can't remember, but it in itself is worth the trip. I cannot begin to explain how beautifull that place is, or how wild it is at night.

Morgan Segal had taken some awesome pictures down there, I can't remember where they are on the net though.

Yet another reason to go

The name of the ancient city is Guanajuato, and I would suggest staying their if you are bringing a significant other as it is one of the most spectacular places I have been. As Pete mentioned it is worth the trip just for the city
Leon is not that exciting.
