Default cruise control (not working)

Hello,

My cruise control isn't working. The light goes on when I press the button, but the cruise control doesn't engage when I activate it. This is on a 97 2.2L Sedan Impreza.

My CEL light isn't on. The only things that I can think of that has been done to my car since it worked was:
1. An oil change at a Subaru dealership.
2. I accidently plugged my rear brake (3rd brake light) light into the connector in the trunk that isn't connected to anything.

I've checked my brake lights and they all work.
The cruise contol fuse is fine.

I'm stuck, any advice? Things to check/look at. Also if anyone has a diagram of how to install the cruise control so that I could check to see if a wire has come loose that would be great.

Default something to check

Check the vacuum lines going to the CC unit. Perhaps one of them worked its way loose or developed a hole/leak in it.

Cruise control won't work if you have a brake light out. Yousaid that your brake lights work, but also that your 3rd brake light wasn't working, right? Or did you fix that, and all three brake lights are working?

Cheers,
All three brake lights are working. I'm down to looking at the sensors. I've followed all the wires, and they look in good shape.

I'll second this. Follow the vac line going from/to the CC. Mine was pulled off while messing with my intake once and the indicators were A) rough idle and B) CC light comes on but doesn't actually work.

Also check the switches on your clutch and brake pedals. If they are not tight and adjusted properly the cruise will not work.

hehehe. That empty plug is probably the trunk light plug!

Fix your CC yet?
