Greetings,
Had the opportunity to drive the SVX in a North Dakota ground blizzard this weekend. It performed superbly. I was able to drive the posted speed limit of 70(+)mph while others creeped along. I felt completely safe and secure in its abilities. Others gave me the eye as I passed in my sportscar...most other sportscars have been retired for the season. Little do they know its an all-wheel drive superoo. Pski

I know what you mean!!! Doesn't snow around here, but it sure can rain hard- and I haven't been in any other vehicle, new or old that feels as sure footed and safe as the SVX. Around town, on the freeways, wipers blazing at full speed and the other mortal cars sucking water spray- Truly another level of car and performance.

I recall my first blizzard in the SVX. So many cars had slid off the interstate and crashed that I stopped counting. For a while the roads were near deserted. The only car I saw moving anywhere as fast as I was, was a silver SVX going in the opposite direction.
Try that in a 300ZX or Q-45. I recall my first heavy rainstorm too-- feeling the left side of the car hydroplaning in a worn spot of road, and the right side tracking true was amazing. Worth Every Penny. |

About a week after I bought my SVX there was a HUGE rain/thunder storm. The kind of storm that leaves intown roads all washed out. I thought I would put the SVX through its paces and headed for the highway. While everyone else, including the 18 wheelers, were doing 50-55mph I was able to comfortably do my normal 70-75mph. The SVX definetely gets a gold star in my book when it comes to saftey and ease of control in bad weather

I've had my SVX for 14 months now. When I first got it, it was PLAGUED with problems (worn summer Goodyear GS-D tires, AWD broken, windshield wipers coming loose, etc etc) so I wasn't able to truly enjoy it.
FINALLY after a lot of headaches, work and MONEY, I've got an SVX in DECENT shape! I had my AWD fixed when I had the transmission TOTALLY rebuilt and BULLETPROOFED by Level 10. I bought some GREAT Pirelli P7000 SuperSport tires. After countless other fixes I'm able to RULE the roads! I was able to FLY through my state during a rainstorm. Those tires REALLY expel a lot of water, and if you hit a deep puddle, the sipes hook and grab the water like a paddle boat on the Mississippi! Pirelli tires combined with SUBARU AWD (only really works with plenty of throttle) make an AWESOME ride in the wet!! I can't wait to try it out in the snow now that I FINALLY have AWD! The P7000 SS are M+S rated, though I'm not holding my breath. They should do alright, but I bet they're nothing compared to a full fledged snow tire! BTW If you want a second set of rims to put on narrower (205-215) snow tires, I heard that you can use TOYOTA RAV4 16"X7" wheels! They have a 50mm offset supposedly. On top of that, they're AFFORDABLY PRICED too! Others have successfully used Lexus SC300/400 16"X7" wheels. I think they have a less friendly offset though, not to mention a LUXURIOUS price. Good luck this winter and KEEP IT ON THE ROAD!! Eric |
