Need part for Roof Rack

I lost that little plastic cover from the corner of my roof rack. It appears to just snap into place to cover up the attachment bolt.

I know some of you have taken roof racks off your wagons. Any chance someone is willing to part with this piece for the front passenger-side of the rack?

I checked with the dealer and they don't sell it separately. I'd have to buy a whole roof rail for $240! My car is a 98 GT Wagon, though any non-Outback Legacy from 96 to 99 uses the same rack. It's just a little thing, but the car looks incomplete without it.

Doug, Your dealer is messing with you! I bought one side rail for my rack for like $40, and my dealer had an exploded diagram of the rack, with part numbers, all orderable. I'll be in there in next day or so to pick up my Wagon. I'll check on that part. Unless of course someone wants to part out their rack?

Hmmm. Well, I only talked to them on the phone. I didn't get to see the diagram or whatever he was working with. Maybe I'll have to stop by the dealer and see if a different person on different day comes up with better price. Thanks for the heads-up.

Thats funny, cuz I just took mine off the other day. Still deciding it it is permanent.. but most likely it is..

I have checked with all the area junk yards, including a place called Cindy's Classics, which specializes in Subarus. I guess the encourging news for us Subie drivers is that no one has a 96-99 legacy wagon in their yard.

Try www.rcsr.com. They have a Subaru specialty yard and they'll ship anywhere..

Hey Doug, I just talked to my parts guy and if you strike out with the recycler the part # you want is E3601AS320, and he says it should be available. I assumed the Front pass side would be same as rear Drivers but he showed different part #'s for each of the 4 corners. Good luck!

Hey, Glenn. Thanks so much for that part number. I called the dealer and gave him the number, and there it is for $9.88! It was the same guy who told me I needed to buy a rail. He seemed amazed that you were able to come up with a number for the separate bolt-cover. Well, at that price, I just ordered the new piece. Thanks for all the help!
