Default What will 05 Outback look like?

Have seen plenty of pictures of the 05 legacy in sedan and wagon but have not seen any of the Outback wagon or sedan assuming that they will continue in their present form. One other question. Any changes for 04?

The Car Connection

To be officially introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show next September, and at dealerships late next spring. But we caught it testing out west. And there’s no mistaking this for a “regular” Legacy. This Outback, with exaggerated cladding, huge fog lamps, a luggage rack, and without the Legacy-style hood scoop, is powered by a 3.0-liter, 250-horsepower engine with Porsche Variocam-style variable valve lift and timing. An optional five-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode will also be available.

Default What about the H4?

If H6 gets a HP boost to 250HP will the 2.5 also get a few more ponies?

Assuming that the USDM Outback is equpped with the 2.5T, it'll probably sport power close to the Legacy 2.5T which should be around 260-280-ish. Only time will tell. It's mighty exciting though.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the 2.5T being the high-end Legacy motor, with the H6 reserved for the high-end OB motor........so turbo leg, n/a OB

The JDM lineup has almost every permutation, however, except a turbo OB (Lancaster). The OB lineup has never had a turbo anywhere. the H6 did appear in a GT-level car in Japan, however, so who knows....

I was at a Subaru clinic this Saturday, for current Outback owners. The Outback they had looked like the pictures shown. Most of us were ready to trade ours for the new one. Subaru did a great job. The car looks great.

Some of the changes that I noticed:
Softer Leather
Power Passenger Seat
Radio Controls on the steering wheel
Manimatic Transmission
Outside mirrors with directional signals
Differnt wood trim Grayish Brown color
Gear Shift wood/leather
Heated seats are adjustable instead of high/low settngs
Front, side, head curtin airbags
Space for a navi unit on the top of the dash
Something on the liftgate which we assumed was something like a rear window shade
To us that were there, it looks like the car had xeon(sp) headlights

Hope this helps a little

Did they have an actual car at the clinic or just pictures? Was it the same color? Monochromatic or two toned? Inquiring minds need to know! Tell us everything!

Sounds like SOA has been listening to suggestions current owners have made. Now it's a wait and see game.

Thanks for the heads-up on the improvements!

Default Any more pics?

Any more pics, since I am especially interested in whether or not Subaru will stay with the two-tone colour scheme?

Sounds like some nice improvements. Should we all expect a price jump for the base OBW?

Default Any two-tone spy pics around?

I fear that the OB will migrate to monotone and love the two-tone effect. Will it stay?

I hope it goes to monotone, cause two-tone looks ......... somehow not the way I like it.

Default Looks a little too subdued

Somehow it looks a little too tame in Monotone.

Assumimg there is no "official photo" I wonder what effect a little Photoshop manipulation would have?

Pretty crappy color choice IMO! What is that "cream of beige"? Yech! Not a very good start for a world wide introduction!

Unhappy What else is missing?

OWL tires do not seem to be in the photos.

Will the raised white letter tire disappear in 2005?

At the moment only Firestone and Bridgestone supply OWL for the Outback. Remember the original tires that were badged "Outback"?

Does anyone know if there will be sedan version of the 2005 Outback? I really hope so. I haven't heard anything either way. I would already have one of their sedans if it just had a little more power. I will gladly trade in my 2003 Outback wagon for a 2005 Sedan 3.0R silver monotone. I cant wait until they arrive at the dealership.

I guess one of the most recent posters with the "new" Outback link is not aware that this thread exists and does not offer any more information than this thread does!

Default A couple of observations

The tires appear to be 17 inch: 225/55-17? and I gather that the outline white letter tire has finally disappeared. About time!

Is Subaru offering a choice between two-tone and solid colour?
