Post Climate Control

Greetings,

I continue to be impressed with this car. I had posted on a different thread that I recently had the opportunity to drive in a ground blizzard. Hence...it is cold here (not by ND standards but 10-20F with wind chills <0F). Anyway...when starting the car...the climate control does nothing until the engine warms up then kicks into high blowing nice warm air into the cabin. This is the way one should do it...no point blowing cold air into the cabin and prolonging the time it takes for the engine to warm up. The engineers thought of ALMOST everything...I will let the tranny thing slide for now. Also...on ECON I had warm air blowing out the front vents...someone had posted on the Yahoo! board that the SVX wouldn't do that. Go figure.

Thumbs up

Yeah, I love my Legacy GT, but the fancy Climate Control is one thing I do miss.

I guess the new 'High-End' Outbacks have a climate control system in them now. But I don't want one of those!

Pretty neato stuff. My aunt was showing off her new BMW 323i to me- and her automatic climate control is set to 65 degrees. Brrrr....I really think its cool that my SVX, which is 8 years older, has the same feature. I keep mine at 75 degrees. Brilliant car.

On my SVX it works like this......

When I have my C.C. set at 74 degrees or higher using 'ECON' the warm air is blown out at the floor. Heat from the bottom up for efficiency and more even temp in the cabin. If I go below 74 degrees after I have had the heater working at a higher temp for a while it blows out the vents. Because the cabin is already at a higher temp(from running it at a higher temp earlier) the C.C. now blows the warm(though cooler than before) air out the vents to bring the temp of the car to the now cooler(though still warm) setting. To my knowledge, and asking my Sube dealership, this is how it is suppose to work. Does any of this make sense? It's kinda hard to type it all out and make sense Translation from mental thought to computer screen type is not always my 'speciality'.

B.C.

Never2phat

Your explanation makes sense...and in fact describes my situation exactly. Thanks.
