It was/is still living.

Well, it is dying. I put it in a butter dish submerged in water.

I thought with ticks you had to force them to remove themselves...

ie heat or sufication.

I thought it was bad to leave the head of the tick in... or did you manage to get that out too?

Interestingly enough, I know all of the facts, but I just plucked it out.

I definitely got the head out, I think I got it when it first bit me.

Yeah, that's what I don't get.

I have been home from work for 8 hours now.
Showered.
Inspected myself as I always do.
Yet, here I am, sitting at my computer getting bit by fracking ticks.

You should try the woods around here... after a brief perusal of property lines I found 5 attached ticks and well over 20 unattached buggers. I hate ticks! And that was with DEET bug spray...

I would experiment on his violating ass. Magnifying glass, lighter, odd household chemicals.

Normally I live and let live, but when they violate the bodily boundary they DIE... if they penetrate, they SUFFER!!! DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I was like ten years old and on a hike with a friend and his parents. I stopped to take a leak behind a tree (I think you know where this is going) and I had a tick attached to my boys. I freaked out.

I shudder just thinking about it

I suggest you take lyme desease test. It's a simple blood test.
I had a tick last year that I didn't even notice. I ended up on antibiotics for 4 months with a complication on the knee and twitches in other joints. It was NOT pretty when a surgeon had to stick a big ass nidle in my knee to take ou tthe fluid...

You can get both yourself and the tick checked for Lyme disease. You can also get a vaccine for Lyme disease, although some people are worried about possible side effects.

The Lyme didease test is inaccurate sometimes. It just test for a bacterial infection and if you have any other infection going on you might not know about you will get a false positive or no reaction. A good friend I work with got bit by a tick while hunting and tested negative for Lyme, but most definitely wound up with it. Guess even with treatment, it goes into remission, but you never truly get rid of it. I spend a lot of time outdoors and asked my doctor about the Vaccination and was told it was hit or miss. Not a lot of info on if it works or not. I figure what's the harm in trying. I'm not going to go out and get bit just to test it, but it would be piece of mind.

I spend a lot of time out in the woods for my job. I get bit by ticks constantly. If I had the test each time, I would be constantly poked and prodded. I know there is a chance I can get lyme disease, but there is also a chance I will get killed in a car accident or come down with cancer. I do the best I can to negate the risks the best I can. After that I suck it up and get the job done. Not much else I can do.

You think thats bad? About a year ago I woke up, was really groggy, took a shower, got out and after I got dressed and was ready to go to school, I wipe the steam off the bathroom mirror and see this little black dot on my neck. I look at it closer and realize its a tick sticking out with its feet dangling around.

I began to flip out and my sister remembered if you hold heat up to it it should pull out. Of course executing it was another story and she ended up taking a hot match and poking it, melting half the bug. Then we couldn't take it out with tweezers, so I ended up spending 3 hours with my sister driving to the ER then some random doctor before they'd take it out.
