Default BBS RG-Rs for STi.....do they fit ??

Nothing listed on the Tirerack website yet for the STi, so a couple of questions for Luke;

Are 17x7.5" RG-Rs available with an offset of between 48 to 53 and will they clear the STi's Brembos without using spacers".

Will TireRack be stocking the gold RG-R-s with polished lip for the STi ?

Thanks.

17x7.5" RG-R's are available for the WRX, which pretty much tells me they're available in an offset that falls between 48 and 53mm (since the WRX uses the same offset). My guess is they're 48mm, since I've got BBS RK's, which are 48's.

I don't think you'll have a problem clearling the stock calipers. Although to be honest, I'm not sure why you'd want to spend that kind of $$$ on wheels when the stockers are already made by BBS and are pretty darn nice.

Uhm, there are a huge number of wheels that won't clear the STi calipers. The RGRs might clear them, but I wouldn't just assume that they do.

I'm looking for a set of rims to mount dedicated winter tires.

The RGRs are light and strong and will hold up pretty well to our salt-laden and pothole-infested winter roads (as will any rim) so long as they're properly cared for.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll wait and see what advice Luke at Tirerack has to offer. Personally, I've got a sneaking suspicion they won't clear the Brembos without resorting to a non-optimal offset and/or spacers.......we'll see.

Default Luke@Tirerack ?

Trying to keep this alive before it gets buried......

Luke, do you know the answers to the following questions.

Are 17x7.5" RG-Rs available with an offset of between 48 to 53 and will they clear the STi's Brembos WITHOUT using spacers".

If 17" won't fit what about 18", again without spacers.

Will TireRack be stocking the gold RG-Rs (with polished lip) for the STi; assuming they fit ?

Thanks.

You might want to direct Luke to your post, or just call him up, he is very helpful.

the answer:

NO !!!

The BBS RG-R's do not have enough brake clearance for the STi Brembo brakes in either 17" or 18" even though they do have the correct offset

Default Thanks Luke

Boo, hiss ........I thought as much.

I'm currently running BBS CH (18 x 8.5") on my S4 with a non-standard offset and these only just clear the stock calipers (probably smaller than Brembos) using spacers.

I guess it's gonna have to be Volk (hhhmm, nice LE28Ns or LE37As or GT-Us) or Prodrive (G010E).

Thanks anyway.

the 18x8.5 ET35 BBS CH clears the S4 brakes with no problems and no spacers
