Like the smell of 2-stroke motors? I have been involved with this cool event for 5 years now. It's a blast, all types of weird and wild little cars... including Subaru 360's. You don't have to own a microcar to join in the fun! The Museum of Transportation (MOT) is a nice place to spend a day. Here's some info from our site: The Eighth Annual Microcar and Minicar Classic Event hosted by the Gould Family and will be on July 11, 12, and 13, near Boston. This event has become one of the premiere microcar events, with three micro-tours, a huge eclectic gourmet feed, cruise night and a spectacular farewell breakfast. Last year, over 125 registered guests with 70 unusual microcars and minicars and over 1,000 spectators attended the Lawn Exhibit at the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation, in Brookline Massachusetts. We have our SAAP (Seats & A$$es Program) in effect. If you register with Charles (see contact info below) and show up with an A$$ and no Microcar, we will assign you to an empty seat in a Microcar for all the tours. CLICK HERE FOR THE SCHEDULE Subaru 360 and a Fuldamobil Messerschmitt Tiger My Flared 71' Mini. Interested in the entire weekend event? I've wanted to go to that thing for the last couple years since I first heard about it, but every year something comes up... I love mini cars! I would very likely be interested in voulnteering but I will have to check with the activities coordinator (read: fiancee) before comitting to anything. What do you need help with anyway?

Need help on Friday night with helping people register at the Gould's house in Newton, setting up tables, chairs..etc.
Saturday we need help with getting people organized, make sure than everyone is registered. There are lots of little things throughout the day.. like at the museum on Saturday; we gives rides to spectators in the mini and microcars, so keeping control of the lines of people and issues.. like drag racing! ![]() There are lots of girl-friends, fiances, wifes that come.. so of course she is more than welcome to participate. Please inform us if anyone is planning to volunteer before that date. Thanks Last edited by Rallyman5; 06-12-2003 at 01:55 AM. |

Nicole could pretty much care less about cars... as long as hers runs and gets her where she's going. I will definately check my schedule though to see if I'm free.

If you're into micro cars, then you've probably heard of Smart in Europe. If not, then see http://www.daimlerchrysler.de/index_...t/smart1_e.htm. Although obviously not a "classic" yet, it may be headed in that direction. It may only be coincidence, but today I discovered that a Baltimore company is very close to bringing the Smart to the US as a grey-market import. They've crash-tested a few of the little buggers and have petitioned the DOT's NHTSA to certify them as complying with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. This is all sumarized in an NHTSA notice published in today's Federal Register: http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-...d=fr20jn03-134. I don't know why the petitioner decided on the "Smart & Passion" trim level. I personally would opt for the "Smart & Brabus" tuner version.
Anyhow, if you were ever interested in being the first on your block to own and drive a Smart in the US, you now know whom to contact: J.K. TECHNOLOGIES 3500 SWEET AIR STREET BALTIMORE, MD 21211 410-366-6332 |

Jon,
We had a Smart that attended our event 2 years ago. There was a couple who moved to the us from Munich and they had put their Smart in the container. They got to drive it for 1 year before it had to go back to Germany. I had a chance to drive it, it was a blast. When I had imported my Mini there was a Smart at the Port of Newark that was sitting there for 6 months.. Someone bought it via eBay and customs wouldn't let it pass through thanks for the link! |
