Alot of the OEM bumpers that are used in cars now are made out of fibreglass. So I would not worry.

Are you sure about that Byron???

Although start-up costs to make the tools/molds for urethane are much higher than fibreglass, on a mass market basis, urethane is WAAAY cheaper than fibreglass. Other than the Corvette, I can't think of any other OEM that uses fibreglass??

Curious if there are others.

The bumper are usually made out of fiberglass. Hum that;s what the guy at the bodyshop told me.

Anyways, I don't have enough sleep. Oh that's what when I had to take my 97 honda in.

Sorry if the info is not correct but that;s what I been told.

If your body shop guy was referring to most aftermarket bumbers are made from fibreglass, he' be absolutely correct, but almost all factory/OEM bumpers are made from urethane.

Actually i noticed some JDM econo cars here seem like they are made of Fibreglass..

Anyways the guy told me that the fibreglass that the bumper i'm looking at will definately not crack in the cold... i'm still in doubt tho... because i don't think he has ever seen/felt -35 C

I wouldn't get an STi V1 replica front lip because of the fiberglass issue. Rather, I bought a geuine STi V1 lip (which cost me like $500 more money). Oh well, it should hold up much better I figure.

What bumper are you looking at? I checked into this quite extensively as I needed a new bumper as well. The Jun bumpers are not friberglass, they are FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) which is basically urethane with some fiber reinforcement so its even better than urethane. If its those bumpers that company is selling from BC on eBay, I'd pass as the quality looks shoddy and the fitment probably blows.

If the bumper industry is anything like the plastic piping industry, FRP is just another way of saying fibreglass.

To my knowledge, I've never heard of a fibre reinforced urethane. Any way of verifying your info? Curious.
