Question Factory Carbon Fiber help

My dealer just received the car I ordered - black WRX wagon 5 speed - and mistakenly inluded factory carbon fiber interior trim. They can't delete it, and I don't feel like waiting a few months more for a newly ordered car. Is it horrible looking enough that I should wait for the right car? I think I'm gonna take it despite my aversion to "flashy" interiors. Also, can someone direct me to a photo of that interior?

Did you ask the dealer if they can order you up the non-carbon fiber pieces and then have you or one of their techs switch out the pieces? You might find someone here that will trade your pieces for theirs.

didn't think to ask that, but it's a pretty good idea, although then they might ask me to actually pay them for it - they're willing to not charge me for the carbon trim - any thoughts on the looks of it?

I've never been a fan of faux c/f but it really does look better than the cheesy silver plastic in the WRX. I'd take it. You'll like it.

it's my understanding that the cf comes on all the new cars...
and i KNOW it's REMOVABLE... use a hair dryer...
remove it...
sell it to someone on the board...
problem solved.

Ok now I'm feeling dumb.

You mean that the CF is just a decal?

Mine came with it because that was all they could find in my area, so I took it.

It's ok looking, but it's nice to know I can just peel it off if I want.

Thanks.

They are not decals. And they are removable. The dealer left the instruction manual in my car.To me they look much nicer than the stock painted silver.

Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone. Glad to hear it doesn't look that bad. Is it subtle or "loud"? Also any opinions on the durability of it?

Thanks subiegal! looks like I'm gonna pull the trigger...if I understood your earlier post, you heard that all new WRXs/2.5s are being shipped over with the CF as the standard trim (instead of silver plastic)? If so, where did you hear that?

NONONO!! They're not all CF. There are WRX's at my local dealer both ways. And NONONO the CF is not removable UNLESS you replace it with the silver panels. The CF is not just a laminate over the stock panels. It IS the stock panel. I think you'll like the looks better anyway. It is definately more subtle than the cheesy silver trim.

I had a similar situation. I had a WRX on order and another one came in identical except it had carbon fiber trim. I took a look and it is fine. It IS NOT a decal like in previous years. It is a whole different panel. I think it looks very nice. The dealer gave it to me free. I would not pay the $395 (or much of anything) for it, but at $0 it looks very nice. No better or worse than the stock shiny panels.
