Default My Bosal DP review

I finally got the Bosal downpipe installed on friday. I bought a jet-hot coated downpipe (inside and out). I had bought a set of 5 ply gaskets since I needed to fix a thread in the uppipe (broke the stud) and install the EGT sensor on the drivers manifold.
The quality, well, I never got to see it before the coating, but after the coating it still looked very good. Except that on the downside of the wastegate bypass, there were some bits of metal that should have been trimmed off. I wanted to trim them but didnt had the time, so I left them. Installing was very easy, since its alot smaler than the OEM one (since it doesnt have heat shields) The DP had the usual problems, the hanger which attaches to the trany was really not aligned, so I dont have it attached to the tranny. Had another fitment issue with the cat pipe, it was off by like 1/8 - 1/4" from reaching the downpipe, so I also couldnt get the cat pipe hanger bolt on. But since I had 5 ply gaskets I didnt worry too much about fitment or leaks down there. I also didnt worry much about the problem people had where the wastegate would touch the gas separator of the DP. I did try and open it as much as I could. I had bought the Cusco Heatshield too, to protect the IC from heat from the turbo, so no old heatshield butchering. I didnt also do any type of CEL fix. Im still running the factory cat pipe.
Now the fun part. I instantly noticed that the car was very sensitive, very responsive, and I noticed the turbo whistle (which is good ) Took it for a run. The noice in the cab isnt really that loud as I expected. The radio at low volume can drown all noise. I can hear the whistle till the boost gets to 0, then hear the whoosh/flutter from 0 to .3 bar, then only whoosh after. Car pulls very nicely, and EGT temps on a daily drive stayed below 1400, and on WOT from 20 to 120 mph I only saw temps up to 1500. Ive run close to 100 miles and no CEL yet ::P I may do the hardware CEL fix though. Next step, stage 2 map

I have the bosal dp on my 04 with the pony express cel eliminator. I got the cel after about 200klms (120 miles). I reset it, and it came on again at about 200klms. I took the pony express thing off and re-installed it with crimps and it still came on. I haven't pulled the code, but I'm assuming it's because of the bosal dp because I never had it before. But maybe it's the slow response code. I have the HKS up pipe and Vishnu stg 0 on my car too.

Maybe you installed the MILe wrong because it works.

try the hardware cel fix, its cheaper and should work. I still havent got a cel after 100+ miles, hopefully I wont. I did noticed that my gas is dissapearing. I havent modified my way of driving, so either I have a gas leak or boosting earlier means using more gas.

The electrical CEL fixes are NOT working too well on MY04 WRX's. The hardware fix is the best way to lose the P0420 code.

I will make it easy for you. Help! Brand part number 42002. Drill it out to 1/2 inch and put it between the O2 sensor and the downpipe. And so..... No Codes

Happy driving
