Are you using the 1995 WRX ECU?

If you are, you can probably use any old oxygen sensor. OBD1 Subaru ECUs aren't picky; you could even use a generic 1-wire sensor and just not wire in the heater or ground.

Does the 1995 ECU use the rear oxygen sensor signal? If not, you could swap your rear one up to the front.

If you're not using the correct ECU (i.e. you're using your RS's original ECU) you should probably use the correct sensor for a 1999 RS.

I don't know what the specs are on the other O2's but the 95 WRX is as follows.

Heater circuit is 10 - 14 volts
Sensor output 0.1 - 1.0 volts
The plug has four wires and looking in the end it goes.
21
43

1 & 2 are the heater
4 is the O2 reading
3 is the ground.

Hope this helps.

Puckaveli - What is your source for that information? Is it for the front or rear sensor, or does it only list one sensor?

The diagnostics and wiring diagram sections of my JDM service manuals. The pre 96 WRX's only have one O2 sensor also. I have a 94 WRX motor and drivetrain in my garage too.

Cool.

So it seems the 1995 WRX oxygen sensor setup is the same as North American Legacy Turbos... One 4-wire sensor on the downpipe.
