i would like to thank the people who produce them. i am glad to say that they have never been made for our cars and i hope they never do make them. you dont need them.

a better and cheaper thing to do would be to search for the tail light mod. it looks great. or you can get a set of jdm tails but that will run ya like 300 or less.

Altezza style lights are the work of the devil. They belong on one car... the Toyota Altezza, none other. To put them on any other car would be rice, plain and simple. But that's just my opinion.

please dont make me hit you with a stick

i dont care if it is your car we have to look at it on the road and those taillights are SO freakin annoying. Just stick with the stockers and paint the amber red or tint it. And they will look good no need for cheap APC junk

stant-

Luckily you came to the Legacy Forum first, where folks are generally more reasonable and friendlier than our younger, hot-headed Impreza brethren. You would surely have gotten hosed.

Here's the thing- For some reason, the import-tuning side of Subaru culture has always shunned the Altezza look. From the early days of the Impreza 2.5RS, Subie tuning guys always focused on go more than show. Maybe it was because the quirky nature of Soobs drew a different breed of person, maybe it is because the car appealed to motorsport fans who loved the rally car look....who knows? Any ateration of the taillights had to be pure- like a set of JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) lights and such. But the Altezza look that is so popular with the Honda folks is taboo on a Soob.....it is a sure sign of a Soob Noob, someone who shoulda just bought a honda and doesn't appreciate the special set of attributes AWD and the Subaru rally heritage bring to the table. The aftermarket has responded accordingly- no such thing exists for the Legacy or old school Impreza. Only for the new WRX, which has brought a whole new pile of people to the fold...

Hey, i agree with you guys about 60% anyway, they're not for my car! i dont care for them myself, and would never put them on my scooby. but my girl just bought a nice little 95 LS and she wants to make it look different than everyone elses stock scooby, and i tend to agree with that too.
we were looking at some screen mesh for the grill but then realized you just zip tie the crap over her grill, so we scrapped that idea. if anyone has some creative ideas (or low-cost ) well gladley throw the altezza question right out the window
And thanks for the feedback on the altezza's, ill never type that word again, you got my word

Lucien-unfortunately they do in fact make altezza's for the old school impreza, looks terrible.

also, nice analysis of the general subaru owners i think it is quite accurate, for some reason we think differently, and obviously we are right

biggreen - used clicked your page. I love the green/bronze combo. The Tarmacs suits the leg really good. I wanna do my headlights too, but I don't have the balls to taken them apart again. I still get nightmares from the DIY corners I'm planning on painting mine bronze/copper next summer too. They're beatup already

Sam - If you're wondering how DIY mods look, check my post a few days back.

Im very impressed with everyone! You could have ripped stant093@ a new one, considering the feelings towards altezza lights (which I share).

stant093@: No altezza style replacements exist for any Subaru except the 02+ WRX. Its a good thing.

She wants the car to look different? Just owning a Subaru takes you farther in that catagory than any simple mod would do

if you guys actually were paying attention to my post, you would have seen that i mentioned that they do have them available for the GC(93-2001) imprezas, not just the wrx.

everyone should know of the great lights available.

JLow03-unfortunately those will not fit(otherwise i would have them already ) the reason is apparently the revision D's have a different headlight contour, so to get those lights, you would need to get the hood and bumper as well, which would be pretty sweet, but expensive. so if these are the lights i think you are talking about, then they wont fit our USDM legacies

I was going to come in here and bash the altezza lights, but I see my work here has already been done.

Ditto to what has already been said.

Being Subaru IS different. However that doesn't stop most of us from wanting to tweak the cars already stellar looks (yes I'm a Subaru Junkie).

what about Morettes for the front and JDM for the back? That would give your GF a different look and probably win the admiration of the Legacy crowd here.

Also no chrome please, I thank you.

Peace,
Oquipah

This is now my alltime second-favorite thread in the Leg forum.

(Second to the "Bling-Bling" thread, of course)

Nice work, gentlemen!

Hmmm, good point, Morettes for the front. Not as cheap, but not terribly pricey either. Not my style personally, but a far better cosmetic change than altezzas. Someone using 'em post a pic...
