Default What headlamp bulb fits a 98?

Ok.. I have a pair of H4 PIAA bulbs from my '91 JDM Legacy. Now, I went to put them in my '98 yesterday, but they are a different bulb.. looks like a 9004 or something in there? PIAA's website says H4 fits '92-99 Legacys. What's up with this?

Mine takes 9007 bulbs. Not sure what the 'H' number equivalent is.

My 1997 GT takes the H4's. They might have changed it for the 98-99's as the headlamps were switched from one piece to two piece.

Yep, the MY97's are different. We've got one of those in the family as well.

There is no equivilant. An "H" type bulb is a totally different mount to the "9000 series" bulbs.

My wifes 99 Impreza takes an "H" bulb and thus I have lots of options, but my 98 Legacy takes a 9007 (I think) and thus I am stuck. But that will change whenever my Morrettes come in.
I believe part of the reason for the changes is that the Legacy is built here (thus 9000 series) and the Impreza is built in Japan.

my BD (99) takes 9007's = HB5

Good source for info, and purchasing: http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/hella/bulb_styles.htm

"There are two series of Headlamp bulbs used in the US - One is the European series of bulbs known by the designations H1, H2, H3, H4 and H7. The other series is the 9000 series of bulbs designed for use in composite headlamps. "

Hope that helps.
