Question are the leather Bra's out for the STi?

NO i do not enjoy rockin a leather bra for the looks - just afraid of rock chips . i was thinking about getting the 3m clear bra installed, but its close to $600 for the hood and bumper right? so i was thinking it would be cheaper to just buy the leather bra and put it on for long road trips, etc. and then take it off during normal drives.

what do you guys think? are the leather bra's even out for the sti? how much are they? thanks

Not from Subaru in the USA. (the last vinyl ones stained the paint...)

In Australia, they have an acrylic PVC hood protector.

Leather bras cause more damage than they prevent. This isn't just a spout off, I've experienced it on no fewer than 4 cars in my family.

Either do the 3M thing (which I have on my Celica front end....AMAZING STUFF), or do nothing at all. Strapping a piece of tight fitting, dust trapping, paint rubbing vinyl on the front of your car is just asking for problems.

I can't believe the industry still exists honestly.

ONE BIGGER PROBLEM!

one thing , Subaru does not make one for a WRX or STI, only the 2.5 RS. all fit, but here is why.

the tw little foils on the front end protector that keep it from flapping also push the air up and over the intercooler, preventing and cold air from getting into the scoop, and cooling stuff. dont do it, dont put it on...

The price can depend on the kit brand and install cost for the clear bra. I can get you a good deal on the kit. It includes the hood, bumper, fog light covers, lower lip pieces, fenders, hood scoop and mirrors. Let me know if you go that route. Looks a lot better than the leather, but I am sure you know that

Not only looks better, but works better!!
(i.e. it doesn't damage your paint)

I just had my STi done, but I have to have the "installer" redo quite a few areas..., but it will be done right!

I don't even know why those crappy leather/plethor/naughahyde old-school bras still exist!

I'm trying to find someone local that has the kit. I'd be interested to know where you can find the kit.

Who did your install and why didnt they do it right the first time. I dont mean to seem pushy, its just the STi is an easy install and works like a charm. I am in Portland a lot if you need help with it let me know I will help you out.

I want to make sure fellow subie owners are taken care of.

Its hard to judge a good deal. There are a lot of factors for you to consider before someone can deicide if it is a good deal.

What material is being used 3M or something else?
How far up the hood does it go and does it wrap the leading edge of the hood?
Is it a pre-cut kit or hand cut. Handcut=razor blade cuts
What kind of warranty do you get if any?

See what I mean. Lots of factors in the price. I feel that is too much for the product. I can get you more areas covered for a cheaper price and probably a better kit.
