Question Weird Noises When Braking

This sound doesn't happen during normal speeds, only during high speeds, around 80kph+ and sometimes going downhill when speed picks up and I brake.

Its really hard to describe what it sounds like. It kinda sounds like a knocking noise or kinda like a flapping noise.

I checked all around the car, everything is fine.

Question

Yeah, I get an audible click sporadically when applying brakes too, although it's at any speed.

The caliper was my first thought, since the dealer had to replace one recently.

Guess I should set up an appt.

Peace,
Oquipah

I had one of the bolts come loose and back all the way out that hold the caliper to the guide pins. It's pretty f'd up if you ask me. That could cause some serious issues.

Luckily it didn't cause any major damage, just tore off the wheel weights and scuffed up the wheel.

Other thing I just thought of is the pad itself. I had an issue several years back where I got the pad misaligned and when I put everything back together it separated the pad from the backing. What I got was this *ding/ting* sound every time I applied the brake. What had happen was the back got bent back so it was not keeping things tight any more and the pad was moving back and forth.

You may have something similar to that. The pad may not be damaged, but it still may be moving around.

It depends what the problem is.

If they are the only one who has touched the car, and there is a part missing, or if something not right, then yeah I would say they will have to eat the costs. If it's a caliper like before, then yeah I'd say it should be covered.

About the only thing I w0uldn't think would be covered would be a wear item, lets say you need new pads, that wouldn't be covered. But without taking it in there and seeing, or looking yourself, it's hard to say.
