Default 2004 Forester 2.5XT turbo?

The new 2004 Forester XT is a turbo with 210 hp. I am assuming it’s the same 2.5 engine thats in my 00 rs. If so wouldn’t that make a pretty reliable (designed specifically for the 2.5 engine by subaru) 210 hp RS?

yes it would, assuming everything basically bolts up with no issues, it would be like doing an EJ20T engine swap from a wrx, except now its from the forester with the 2.5l engine.

this might be expensive depending on how quickly you are planning on doing it. it might be even cheaper to just do an aftermarket kit, because i believe that a stage 1 kit at like 4.5psi, would easily be 210 at the crank. and if you combined that with engine management you could have a reliable yet fun RS.

hey guys, 210 sounds like a fairly low output considering that its turbo'd, i know they prob redesigned the engine to handle the boost but it doesnt sound like they did much because our stock EJ25 can easily take 210. what do you guys think? sorry if this info already came out i havent researched the forester much.

The forrester and baja motors are still kind of a mystery. Personally I assume the blocks are the same as the STi: Semi-closed, reinforced. I'm guessing 8.5:1 CR, but I do not know what the pistons/rods are made of. The turbo on the non-STi 2.5s is small, but I do not know which turbo it is. Also, the intercooler is TINY compared to a WRX I/C. Also, remember, the non-STi 2.5s are tuned for torque, not hp. They are stump pullers, not ground pounders. ECU tweaks alone should be able to get more WRX/STi-like powerbands, that and upgrading the I/C turbo should make for a rather fun ride. The block should drop right in the our RSs, not sure how well it'll run w/o the ECU though.
