I dunno about anyone else, but I definitely really really like the 2.5gt legacies from '97 and '98. Too bad I'm broke, otherwise I would probably have schemed some sort of way to obtain one by now.
![]() On the bright side, when I do decide to buy one of them used, and I actually have money (haha ), they'll be even cheaper than they are now... on top of the desire I will have to drop in a turbo (and REALLY use that hood scoop) and trick out the rest of the car (not a lot though - the body on the car looks cool enough stock). The car has good looks (STOCK), AWD, and is built pretty tough (unless safety records disagree with me there). Ah, dreams of a Subaru dreamer... who knows when they'll come true? I'm hoping someday... but who knows? Maybe sooner... -slippers2k

My only real complaint was on body roll. My wife tired of my moaning and took it for a spin. On her return she told me to order the parts I needed to fix it. After putting in the Cobb Stage 1 Suspension kit (with adjustable swaybar set at 21mm setting!) we both have BIG grins every time we take it out. ![]() I'm looking forward to running my very first (ever!) autocross with it next weekend. -- Bill |

Hey Bill,
My wife has been bitten by the Subaru bug too. Suffice it to say, when I buy a 2.5GT Legacy, it will probably be somewhere around the 7 grand mark used, and once I restore it to impeccable condition (by God's grace), hopefully more fun will commence. Best wishes on your upcoming autocross, and don't forget to post pics for all the Subaru faithful (like, oh, say... MEEEEE! )God bless you. HAVE FUN OUT THERE!! AWD - Amazing Wild Drives ![]() Take care, Ramon aka slippers2k the Subaru wannabe |

![]() I love playing with Pinnacle Studio! ![]() This weekend being the very first autocross I've ever run I don't expect to turn in amazing times. The only things going for me (I think) are almost 3 decades of driving experience, long ago I was the driver for an (amateur) rally team, and my motorcycle riding experience. I find it amazing how much my riding experience and technique (esp. in twisties) translates into driving the GT. This is totally unlike any car I've ever been in before. I plan to enter every autocross I can get to between now and the Subaru Challenge (October 26). Hopefully by then I'll find that the limiting factor is my tires (they're not great) and not my abilities! ![]() I'll see what I can do for pictures, but if I'm driving, who is taking the pictures? ![]() -- Bill |

Na, I think I am done with the 4 cylinder thing...been at it for too long now.
Now that my ZX is back on the road and driving, I am rediscovering the joys of an I-6 turbo motor....now mating that to AWD would be the best..but we'll see how that works out in time ![]() Adam |

I wont be jealous when I show up with the s13 that spanks WRX's when its finally finished in about a year.
Yea, I guess the .3 L of displacement would be nice to have but I bet my 2.2 stick would keep up with your chook-o-matic!!! MUAH HA HA HA!!! I WIN!!! ![]() |

Don't get me wrong, Schludwiller... nothing's wrong with the '99 gt legacies at all. They look real nice, and the forest green gts tend to get a lot of my stare time when I see them around greater Allentown.
The kicker for me is to get one of the last 2.5GTs in the prior body style - lean yet beefy, with good looks stock. *insane mode on* To the folks selling their 2.5GTs, what year are they and how much? *insane mode off* (insane mode activated because I was interested in buying but have no money )Once I get my hands on a 2.5GT legacy ('97 ideally, but probably either a '96 or '98 is just as fine), this is what I plan to do: * aftermarket turbo * possible torsion bars in front and back to reduce body roll * appropriate intake, cooling modifications (aka everything needed to make the turbo'd car run like it's supposed to) * yellow paint job (yes, I said YELLOW )* interior decorating: black interior with yellow accents everywhere * bonus items: -first aid kit -emergency roadside kit -appropriate atlases for traveling -slippers2k NUTS for 2.5GTs |
