Arrow Saw the first BAJA Sport at a local dealer....

I was at my dealer today (Maita Subaru) checking up on some stuff for repairing my power steering pump, and checked out the 3 STI's they had along with the 2 Forester XTs and noticed something odd...

A Monotone BLUE Baja! I completey forgot about the Baja sports, and didnt remember that they were gonna be Monotone... Anyhow, looked great in that Mystic Blue Pearl paint job!!! I think I want to repaint my car that color It would be nice if they offered it in the Forester XT, or even the STI (I wish).

Had the cloth seats, manual, no options, and was priced at only $22,500 something. Thats definatly a better equiped vehicle, they should have brought this model out first to entice buyers and get better reviews cause its just a better deal AND better looking IMHO

Best thing is that it's a true monotone. I had thought the silver was but in bright light you can see the different shade of the cladding. The blue is really good looking. It's almost black in some light but really about two shades darker than the Blue Ridge Pearl.

Default '03 or '04?

At the NY auto show a Subie rep said here would be a monotone blue Baja for '04. Did the window sticker say 2004? Did it appear to sit a bit higher off the ground? All '04 Bajas have increased ground clearance of .7" I think.

Speaking of '04 Baja colors, at the NY show there was also a medium-dark gray Baja Sport. It had silver cladding, but the silver appeared be a slightly different shade of silver than what the '03 models had. It too, was very handsome.

The window sticker was for a 2003, I got pics of it and the color. The salesperson said that SOA had not told them anything about the new color before or after it showed up at the dealership but that it might be a test for the '04s which are supposed to be all monotone. That meaning no two tones on any Bajas or Outbacks.

The gray/silver Baja Sport was clearly labeled an '04 model. Besides the color change, it sat a bit higher off the ground, as did the Baja turbo.

Also, there was an '04 Outback there too, which was still 2-tone; along with a 35th Anniversery Legacy, which replaces the L-SE model. The '04 Outback no longer has any gold badging. Now the badging is all chrome.

Are you sure that the Grey/Silver one wasnt a Baja Turbo?

Anyhow, it was an 03 I think (the monotone blue one, maybe 03 1/2?) and Chris (salesman) mentioned off hand they didnt have any idea it was coming like that.

I definatly liked it, and I just realized that the price is a bit lower than your average outback, which is definatly apealing, along with that inch of extra ground clearance.

Believe it or not, as I was about to shoot pixs of the silver/gray Baja, I dropped my camera and broke it!

Wow, that's really nice. I wish they had that when I went to pick up my silver one, I'm really sick of silver, but need the monotone look. Bah!
