Default 2004 2.5rs

Hi Guys

Well, I finally did it, i bought a 2.5rs

Admittedly I was looking for an older one like around 97 or 98, but, i would have settled for the round lights on the 00 models

well, after searching just about all of Sacramento on Saturday, after only finding one audi a4 and zero impreza's, i went to the last dealer in my area and broke down and bought a 2004 2.5rs

im not too thrilled that they got rid of the scoop in the hood or they have the itty bitty fog lamps, but, one the way home i noticed with regular lights on that i successfully lit up 3 lanes of the freeway. the new headlamp config looks much better anyway,
i noticed that people look at my car then get all disapointed that its not an sti, hehe

once i break it in im sure it will be a fun lil car, first thing i gotta do is take care of that body roll, the thing rolls like a donut

anyone have a recomendation for a lowering kit? im not a coil over fan, mostly cause i will never adjust em, so maybe something like an h&r cup kit if they make em for the subi. . .i dunno yet, dont know smeg about subi's really

anyway, if anyone cares to see, pics are at

congrats on your new car...but a few points of information

RS's 98 to 01 were the 1st generation
02 & 03 were the round or bug eyed lights
from 02 to present the hood scoop on the RS is no more

Engine wise, everything works from the older cars except for one exhaust flange and one hanger. Getting custom exhaust makes that a moot point anyway. Suspension is different though I believe.

actually, i did, but, ive bought a few cars from the automall and have learned that if you arrive at 930pm, they close at 10pm, you sit there until 1am pretending to listen. finally they dump their silly markup and give you the deal you want cause they want to go home

im sure i might have been able to get a better deal elsewhere, but, i went to shingle springs, they didnt have any 5spds, i went to the one on auburn blvd, they didnt have any either, went to the one in auburn, nothin there either, so finally went to roseville and they had 6

21k out the door...well, then your car must have cost more...

I think mine was 20,XXX for MSRP....and I paid like 21,500 out the door (license and all fees included).

But my car also had 326 miles on it

I'm a little suprised to hear that some of you paid more than me. I didn't think I was getting any kind of deal at 20k with options, out the door, but maybe I did. Although I am in the Midwest .

Oh and to add to the list of mods that'll fit, wheels will fit across the model years. So if you find a good deal on '01 RS wheels, don't hesitate. And for you first mod, get a rear sway bar, 22mm adjustable and/or enlinks to get rid of that body roll. Just watch it on the hard corners as the RE92's don't stick too well.

ive gotten quite spoiled with my corrado, i put falken azeni's on it, im used to good grip, i need to fix the handling in the rs before i hurt myself

i will probably throw some azeni's on the rs as soon as i can, sway bar will be coming along soon too, but, im really tryin to find a strut/spring combo

so far i have found a combo of kyb agx struts and whiteline springs, i dunno tho, never heard of whiteline

whiteline is pretty good stuff, but i haven't read of to many people using their springs, but the kyb struts are supposed to be nice, i've been thinking about those and some eibach springs

and as for price, i was 19,500 out the door with fogs, rubber mats, splash guards, and armrest extension

By any chance did you autocross that Corrado around the Sac region?

Awe...haha

Well your in luck...all the Sac region Auto-x's have been canceled.

Well, Personally, the SPT/STI Spring/Struts are probably your best bet for a street driven car. The KYB-AGX'x Wernt meant for our model year (They will FIT, but you will have some MAJOR camber issues in the rear) I just have the STI Springs on stock struts and its workin fine as of now! There are also the Prodrive Springs which work with the stock struts

from my experience with neons, gti's and corrado, i have learned that it is never a good idea to just replace springs, i will most definately buy struts along with springs when i buy em

I've got KYB AGX struts and JDM Sti springs on my 00RS, no camber plates required, no alignment/camber issues whatsoever, installed at a Suby dealership.

The setup is GREAT. Springs lowered the car 3/4 to 1 inch, stiffened it up a lot. And the struts, the little dials on 'em (4 settings up front, 8 in back) well, they really do make a difference. Most people run 2/front 4/rear for street driving, I dialed mine up to 3/5 recently and could immediately feel the car was stiffer, less body roll, rougher ride too.

Recommendo.

No offense but the interior in the '04 RS looks hideous! The '02-'03 all black was way better.

Man are your cars auto's, man over 20,000 sounds like alot. I got mine in '01 ('02 MY) for like 18,600 w/fogs, ARE, keyless enrty/security upgrade.

Thats why I'm not driving the GC I always wanted, they wouldn't go below 21K on it.

I love the BUG EYES now!

I dont think you can beat the MY00 Impreza RS coupe, unless you have a WRX or an STI. The newer model RS's just dont have that "daaaaaamn-that-is-one-sexy-super-fly-car"! appeal. Although I do like the newly remodeled lights on the 04's congrats on the new ride Hash, hope she treats you well, oh and I've found that tower bars SIGNIFICANTLY improve handling with a good set of sticky tires, they're not too expensive either, unless you go for carbon fiber... which is simply a waste of money unless you are a cosmetic kinda guy.
