Thumbs up Prodrive Stage 2 kit

Finally had time to install my kit(muffler/midpipe/ypipe/ECU reflash). I went with a second ECU to eliminate down time. Huge improvement low-mid & high end. First, max boost is up almost 3 psi. 1st gear has full boost and there is no need to downshift from fifth when passing. It pulls like a up hill. Even top end seems endless at 100 mph. There are no check engine lights . I am extremely happy with the results. I did order the '02 ECU for my '03 sedan because Prodrive is currently patching the reflash software for the '03s. Eventually I will go with the Stage 3(stage2+downpipe/uppipe/reflash). Just wanted to thank Mike @ Subaruxtras.com for his help and putting up with all my phone calls .

Awesome...thanks for the writeup. I'm planning to purchase the Stage 2 once the dyno charts are posted and everything looks good. I can't believe they pushed the max boost up 3 psi. Sounds a little high to me considering the output is only an additional 40hp.

Default max boost

I was at .09 on stock boost gauge(which I read was 13 psi) now max boost is at .11-.12.(.1 is 14.5 psi). Now I'm guessing unless someone has the conversion, max boost gain is about 3 psi. I wish there was a awd dyno near me, but for now I will have to wait for the posted results from Prodrive.

Smile PPP stage kits

All kits are listed in wheel HP. Actually the additional 40whp for the stage 2 kit brings you to about 280 at the crank. Stage 3 is about 309 hp@ crank(228whp).

Sound's good! I also purchased the same kit thought Mike @ Subaruxtras and I am patiently wating for my 03 manual patched ECU.

So the gains are immediatly noticable yeah? With the Cobb reflash some people say it seems to get faster and faster, have you noticed the same with the ppp st2?

Thanks,
J

Dyno plot for the PPP kits this was done with 91 octane and if you have 93 octane your results will be higher.

How was the install? Specifically for the muffler and midpipe? (I have the IC hoses already, and I know how 'easy' it is to swap ECUs. Just curious on approximately how much time I should set aside for the install. Also, any instructions with this stuff, or any additional literature of any kind from Prodrive?

I was also wondering if the WRsport exhaust will fix with the mid pipe.....

Lightbulb Prodrive stage 2 install

Sorry I didn't comment on the install. Once up on jack stands the muffler takes about 20min(changed rear diff to synthetic at this time), midpipe 30min(o2 sensor was a pita to remove had to use my impact gun), ypipe 25min(also decided to change tranny fluid to synthetic and install stop pitch while IC was off). Just wanted to add a note; if you didn't purchase the kit from Subaruxtras.com you will need a 2" bolt to connect midpipe to downpipe and gaskets are not included(Mike from Subaruxtras.com sends them out with the kits). I'm looking into buying the PSI3 ecu monitoring computer which states it will display boost in psi/ Air-fuel/volts/speed/coolant temp/egt temp/ C.e.l.'s etc... I would love to compare these results for when I go to the stage 3.

Thanks for the email MY03-- just a quick couple of questions:
1. What bolt is required? (is it because the stock bolt is too big/small, or too long/short??)

2. So I take it you did NOT reuse the old gaskets? Anybody see any problems in doing so? (I know- exhaust leaks...) but you know what I mean...

and yeah, if you could take some pics, that'd be cool! thanks for all your help thus far!

Just wanted to share a little info. About 500 miles and loving every minute of it. Gas mpg is 21 more city than highway driving; with a heavy foot

Default ecu

You get your same ecu back that you send them unless you buy a second one like I did. I believe they patched the reflash issue they had with the later model '03 ecu's.
