Valentine One, groovy unit.

I think the Escort 8500 is next, huh?

I think it has the second best range to the Valentine One. Something about how the antennae recieves the signal and the sweep of the antennae. I had the write up somewhere in my giant pile of magazines somewhere.

You can also check the websites, something like radardetectors.com or somethign like that.

i like it casue its so damn smart...also it can tell you the exact freqency of the incoming radar and if you buy a california freq pamphlet then you know who is doing what...it also tells how strong the freq's are etc...

my buddies valentine is always going off and i just found it annoying...my 8500 goes off i know there is a cop around...they did a radar test in Motor trend a couple weeks back and the 8500 detected a bit (not much) sooner than the valentine...i do like the valentines ability to hide the sensors though

I have the BELL 985 and i love the thing, it can give you the exact frequency of the radar, tons of options, the best thing is that I can completly turn off x-band, so i will never get beeps from x-band and i rarly get false alarms.

Yeah, you know what they say, "opinions are like arseholes..." and I've seen what you are talking about. Most of them favor the Valentine One though that I've seen.

That and it has those little arrows that light up and show you where the signal's coming from. That's so cool.

The 8500 is cheaper and doesn't perform far from the Valentine One, that's something else to think about.

The three best seem to be:

Valentine 1
Escort 8500
Bell 985

I have the 8500 and it has saved my ass too many times to count. But there are times I wish I had the arrows of the V1.

BTW, if you hear your laser warning go off, it's pretty much too late. If you stand on your brakes immediately you might evade detection. I have, but it's like... nothing... nothing... nothing... nothing... WHEEEEEEEEE!!!! It happens so infrequently that I am not prepared for the noise and think it's my cell phone. Haven't been nailed yet....

Default Anyone??

Has anyone tried the K40 system??

It integrates a laser detector/diffuser in a license plate holder, hidden controls and integrated warning lights, and has a one year guarantee not offered by ANY other manufacturer.

"If you have a K40 system installed, and you still receive a ticket within one year of the purchase date, K40 will PAY IN FULL the fine received."

Doesn't get much better than that!!

if you look closer there is a little disclaimer saying if it is over 9 mph they wont (or 10 mph) and if your going just that much over, 90% chance you wont get a ticket.

It's all about 8500 in expert display mode.

Individual signal strength on 4 X band, 2 K band and 2 KA band signals at the same time.

what it all boils down to is that if you spend $200+ on a radar dector it's gonna be good, the valenine 1, bell 985, and whatever passport are all good, it's just your personal perfrence. I love my bell so i'll keep buying the bell dectors, just choose one and buy it, and this topic should really be posted in offtopic, if you want alot of info, do a search in offtopic......no0b
