Default Borla Headers question

A friend just bought an '01 Outback Limited Sedan.

1. Will the Borla Headers fit?
2. Will they bolt up to the rest of a stock exhaust?
3. How much power would he make using just the headers?
4. How much power with headers + Cobb Tunings catback?

Sorry for the cross post with the "Outback" section, but it doesn't look too busy in there.

Put the GenIV on my Wagon about 1500miles ago.
1) Yes, but will lose undertray unless cut/trimmed
2) Yes
3) Just a couple per the butt-dyno mid to top-end
4) Probably about 4-5 more over the header?

So would it be noticable? He's looking for best bang for the buck. Would pulleys give more oomph?

Buy my used ones! Early Gen 2 or 3 150.00 plus shipping even have a modified air box with 3" inlet and tubing 30.00 all you need is a K&N filter.

1) yes no trimming on later years
2) yes more power if you replace the mid pipe and cat back
3) mostly top end with exhaust work
4) never was on dyno to check but the car was a dog after I removed everything.

Are they cracked? Don't those generations have problems with cracking?

ISR has new gen 4 for around 300 shipped.

From what I read, there aren't much gains from the headers. Expecially JUST headers, though it gives a really nice boxer sound. I have the Borlas too, but I did catback/headers/CAI the same time, so it's really hard to tell (debating whether to get Hi-flow). If you're looking for performance, the best bang for the buck are pulleys...NOT underdriven. If there are enough peepz interested, I can set up a group buy, min 10 ppl. about $300cdn + shipping (3 pounds max). There are a few interested already.

you should've sent them back for gen 4s. Too late now, they're tempered with.

Ya, I had a pretty bad experience wiith them too, but they're the only place I know of selling Borla @ that price shipped. Other sites offer this price too, but not including shipping (large box, bit of weight=$$$4shipping)

i agree, ISR sucks, i dont know how they stay in business or people have good experiences.

i remember someone posting on here saying that they were gonna be getting some springs for their BE, and i cringed because i had gone through that same ordeal, they said that the springs fit but they really didnt. its like they dont even do research they just assume things fit and then sell them to you, or they just want to sell something and lie

Yup, ISR can lick my sweaty *****. Bought a Cusco rear strut bar - $179+duty+shipping=getting ripped off, but figured it'd be worth it. Got it, happiest kid on the block. Open up the box, looks like every person that bought a Subie from Resnick (sp?) got a try at it. Oh well, what can you do, plus no one's gonna see it right? Whatever, spent 2+ hours tearing apart my car in the dead of winter, guess what? It didn't fit...found out it's not even made for my car. Whoopie.

So after them screwing up my order (delay), getting ripped off, spending $300cdn, getting a SEVERELY used product, freezing in the cold, finding out it's useless, I now have a very special piece of metal that I keep in the car for protection.

And get this, when I was trying to do the install, I searched the site for tips, found one where a member (forgot who) got one there too and was having problems installing. 99% guess is that he tried, didn't fit, returned it, the ****ing retards at ISR just puts it back on shelf and now I'm the sucker that got suck with it.

I don't give a ****. I'm putting it back in the box, and sending it back. It's stated for my car, but not made for it. Burn in hell ISR!

Oh, which Subie has a chassis code SF-5 (I think, gotta double check), cuz that's what it's made for.

Oh I forgot to add a few of these in the post above.
Now if I can only train these guys to attack...

Oh, regarding the pullies, the Custom CNC machined anodized in red/blue/black/chrome (I think). They're made to OE spec, but lightened. Had them on my car a couple months now. No problem and I'm very happy with them. I have all the info at home, so I'll get back to you on weight difference.

I'll post more on this later.
