Default WRX tranny--->EJ25rs Motor???

I'm hoping somebody will know what I'm asking for? Does a WRX tranny (02 up) w/ clutch/flywheel bolt onto a EJ25 rs motor (98-01)? My rs tranny needs to be rebuilt, and I will need a something stronger. Wondering if any techs have tried or know if it will work? Any other alternate solutions besides fix my current tranny? Thanks in advance.
Jeff

I am pretty sure the tranny will bolt right up. The clutch and flywheel I think have to be your car specific (I think). Reason why I say that is because a friend here wants a WRX tranny, but has his own clutch and flywheel setup in his RS.

ps- Not sure if you have to change any other parts like the rear diff???

Any of the 4EAT and 5MT transmissions will bolt right up to any EJ series motor. The only things you must watch out for are mating the proper rear diff to the transmission and making sure you have a pull type clutch/flywheel to go with a pull type tranmission and a push type to go with a push type transmission.

Default what does repair cost?

just to get an idea for what alternatives are cost effective.

i'm not sure the wrx tranny is much stronger than what you have esp. if its from a usdm. if you do swap, to 02 wrx, be prepared to swap rear diff, and driveshaft or swap ring & pinion in rear diff to fit tranny as your driveshaft does'nt have the reduction ratio.

nice chart.

an 02 rs tranny would'nt be much stronger either, but with those you could keep the same diff, clutch, prop shaft in exchange for ratios that are taller?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the strength argument for an upgrade is greatly discounted unless you go with a JDM tranny or an STi tranny.

To be the most cost effective, it would probably be best to get a moderate mileage transmission from someobody in the private classifieds or from a junkyard. Should be able to find one for about $750.
