Default Are WRX and TS struts the same?

I want to put WRX wagon springs on my TS (and maybe someday some H&R's). I am worried that, if they are not the same i.e. the TS struts are softer, I will get a lot of bounce. My dealer won't/can't tell me. Thanks for helping!!!

WRX/TS struts do differ.
they are not the same part number....

and i would imagine... that the TS struts are actually a tick taller than the WRX struts for clearance... they are the same part # as the OBS.... thus a little bit taller.

i dont think you will see a massive issue with swapping in some WRX springs... but i'm not sure you'll see a huge benefit from it either....

good luck

I have gotten a couple pm's saying that the part #'s are the same on WRX and TS struts. The ride height is the same. Why don't you think it will make a difference? I would just like to get rid of some nose-dive under braking, and some body-roll. It seems to me that stiffer springs might accomplish that (and they are much stiffer). I am a newbie, so I appreciate your input! Thanks, Nate

well
i work for subaru... erm.. in the parts department...
and i can assure you that the strut part numbers
from wrx to TS differ....

but hey what do i know
do what you want to do i guess....

still... adding shorter WRX springs is not going to give you exactly what you're after. the WRX springs still induce massive body roll and nose dive.

my recommendation? spt/eibach springs...

good luck
Jamie

Jamie
Jamie- if you could do us a favor it would dispel a lot of rumors regarding 2.5RS/ TS/ Outback/ WRX Sedan/ WRX Wagon strut part #s.

Could you post the part #s for these?

Many people swear up and down that the TS Wagon/ WRX Wagon part # is the same (strut itself, not complete assy)

I'm glad you're in a position to help =).

Thanks,
Jon

thats because your dealer is clueless

instead of using the vin number - there is another choice to the right of the vin input - enter in G11 for new age imprezas.

Default Clueless

Thanks for the tip! I decided to forgive their general cluelessness yesterday when they immediately and without question offered to make an appointment to replace my shudderin', jivin', Elvis imitatin' clutch. Hooah!

OK, here we go! Victor your tip worked. TS struts are the same as WRX/RS struts, EXCEPT the top mounts and springs are different. This is for year 2002, I didn't ask about any other year.

Here are the #'s: R front 20310FE040
L front 20310FE050
R rear 20360FE040
L rear 20360FE050

Thanks for all your help out there! Nate

i'll save Jaime the trouble...

when the TS and the WRX wagon first came out - they indeed had different part numbers.

If you take a look at the part number it self - you'll see that they're on the 3rd/4th revision already.

2001.10 - 2001.06
2001.07 - 2002.10
2002.11 -
(i know there's another revision, but my copy of the FAST2 is only good till Jan03)

I am more than positive that SOA did this in order to save on costs and confusion.

What does this mean? If you have a TS wagon, a simple upgrade is still a WRX wagon owners stock assembled assembly (i actually have one for sale if anyone is interested) - as it already has the springs and top mounts that are slightly firmer than the ones that came with the TS.
