Default Snorkel removed, humming sound coming from air box...?

I received my K&N filter today and after talking to a few people decided to rip out the snorkel from behind the fender when I swapped filters. It took me less than 45 minutes, and was a fairly simple process. My intake definately sounds great now under heavy throttle, but I also notice a loud hum coming from the air box. I have no idea what is causing it, it sounds pretty strange. Does anyone else have this 'problem', and, if so, how did you fix it?

I have not driven it enough yet to figure out whether it actually helped power at all, but I gotta say that besides the hum, it sounds killer!

Thanks!

The hum is caused by the intake track, the snorkel/resonator box cancels that noise out.

I believe there is a thread in this forum about that hum.

Also, I think someone said the ribbed/flexi portion may also contribute to that.

I don't mind the noise.....sounds cool

Update: After driving the car for a couple of hours, both highway and backroad (whee!), I'm happy to report a small but noticable increase in low-end power, from about 2 grand to 4500 or so. I have grown used to the hum, and have actually taken a liking to it. Thanks for the ideas y'all.

Can't wait to get some suspension parts so corners will be more fun!

It's caused by airflow over that little doglegged, 8-10" long plastic piece that sticks out of the intake between the filter box and the torque box. The same kind of sound you get when you continuously blow air across the top of a coke bottle. If you can get a straight pipe with connectors between those two pieces (filter box and torque box), that sound will go away... unless you like it and want to keep it that is.
