Question

$6000? A bit steep, there is a running 92 Pearl/Black locally selling for $7000.

Nononononono,
Its 2000$ for the car and ~4000$ for the tranny(i'm guestimating). Follow the link... you'll see what I'm talking about.

Took a look at it. The local one is still a better deal-- In better condition and has lower miles and did not spend it's life in a wet-weather state.

Spend as little as you can in purchasing the car, so that you'll have as much money as possible to put INTO your car! You'll need every extra cent you have! SVX's are EXPENSIVE to maintain, and are even more expensive to modify/upgrade!! ALWAYS put away $3000-$4000 for the transmission job that all SVX's have to get done, no matter what the previous owner said about having a tranny rebuild. The only exception would be if the previous owner had Level 10 do the rebuild. They're one of the BEST automatic transmission rebuilders/bulletproofers in the world! Hopefully your current tranny will last a while, that way you can invest that $3000-$4000 and even make some money on it!

It's a buyer's market. There are always about 100 SVX's listed at http://autotrader.com
When SVX's go for sale, it often takes MONTHS to sell them. Many curious ones look, some brave ones test drive, but none buy. You have to practically give the car away to get rid of it. So once you get one, you might as well commit yourself to run it to the ground! It's the most satisfying thing to do anyway!

Good luck!
