Default clay is clay?

Is there any difference in the quality of clays from different makers? I'm getting ready to place an order from Zaino, but I'm not going to pay $18 for their clay if I can pay $10 for Meguiar's clay that includes lubricant spray.

Thanks, Ken. That's everything I needed to know. I should have learned by now to check over at Autopia for all things detailing.

Never would have occured to me to try Clay Magic. I automatically deduct two points for any product that has the word "magic" in its name.

The Griot's Garage paint cleaning clay is absolutely amazing. It's a little pricey, $19.95 for the bar, or $29.95 for the bar and Speed Shine lubricant. I like it MUCH better than the Zaino clay which starts to get mushy and falls apart about half way through the car.

Griot's Garage

Just my $.02

Clay magic. The raving in Dr Ken's second link is not an exxageration. Nice stuff, especially for the price. I have no intentions of switching, 'cause if it ain't broke...

Recently detailing a friend's Volvo, we got better results with the Griot's clay than Clay Magic, though the blue color was really cool.

There is a price difference, however.

I use clay magic also. If remember correctly clay magic was the first clay bar product.
