Where is the turbo? It does not jump out at me from the pictures at all.

I'm sorry, that boost gauge has got to go.

OK, I'm not sorry. Couldn't a better place be found for that gauge?

Having that shiny metal thingus sitting between my tach and speedo would drive me nuts. An unwelcome distraction given the increased engine output. Which I am hping you will be telling us about soon, REAL soon...

Gee thanks for all the slams.... The first pic shows the turbo unit, though it's kind of hidden below alot of hoses and valves. The last pictues show's it the best though. It's kind of covered by the heat shielding.

As far as the boost guage goes, that is a temporary spot. We were running out of time on Friday and need to mount it somewhere, so that's where it went. I'm thinking about getting a pilar mount kit and placing it there.

Anything nice to say there?

Yes... took a lot of courage to do that to your SVX. You are number 2 to have done this...

How do you sleep at night with those large brass orbs of yours clanking together between your legs?

Honestly I did not mean to slam you, my comment about the lack of turbo visibility was a complement. If I did not know to look for a turbo, I would not have noticed one was there.

These past few minutes I have been thinking where I would have put the boost gauge... and I can't think of a better place without taking the dashboard apart so I'll clam up on the matter until I have a better suggestion.

Wink

lol.... Large brass orbs...

Now that's some funny stuff. I have to say, honestly, that I truely trusts Robert @ Mile High Automotive. I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that he loves Subaru's and has the first SVX that was turbo'd. Maybe it's how much he knows about the SVX and how it works.

He's the kind of guy that makes you understand what things are going on in a manner that makes sense. Yes, he dumbs it down nicely. I've learned alot from him about turbo's and how they work. I've learned alot about the SVX's tranny problems and how to make it last. He's just a good guy.

If you, or anyone else for that matter, are the least bit interested in doing a turbo on the SVX, there is no one that I would trust more than Robert to build it / install it. He just cares alot.

Now that I'm done kissing some backside, I'd love anyone to make serious suggestions as to where the boost guage should go. It doesn't have to stay in that housing. It can go pilar mounted, it could be pod mounted. Maybe even underside of the dash mounted.

Please, help me make my SVX look less dorky...

Nice!!!!!!! I love the custom piping! Especially the one that attaches to the dual throttle body! Looks real smooth! You've got to get some close up shots of that without that plastic H-6 cover on.

Mount the gauge on the pillar between the windshield and the door. The turbo Impreza OBS I drove had a nice double gauge pod with boost gauge and EGT gauge mounted there. Looked cool! Does your boost gauge light up at night?

How do you check the Front Differential dipstick now?? I hope they topped off your front differential before they bolted that turbo in!

Do you have stock intake and exhaust with resonators? Planning on freeing up any restrictions?? Any other mods/upgrades planned?

How does it drive????????

Eric

The only place I can think of is on top of the stock gauge cluster. Like a seconf row of gauges...

Or you could go digital. That would let you mount it most anywhere.

Or... you could mount the gauge underneath the radio, unless you have a dual-DIN unit. You could close the door and no one would know.

Can we get some pix of the underside of your car to see if the exhaust routing is the same as TurboSVX #1?

Eric,

The front diff was checked before I left last friday. Nothing going on there.

I have removed the intake silencer and have a K&N filter in prior to the turbo install. Robert removed the cat (mostly cause you don't need one in Prescott) but I haven't done the rest of the exhaust install yet. Don't know which exhaust I'm going to get yet. Probably dual magnaflows with 2.5" piping.

The car drives fast. I don't mean ferrari fast, but really fast none the less. I am planning on going to the track either tomorrow night or Friday and getting some runs in without the exhaust and then again next week with the exhaust.

I think I will look into getting the pillar mount from autometer. I think they look nice.

Anyone want to buy a turbo SVX?

Gates open at 16:30. I think I may bring my RS so I can get some times with full bolt-ons, then stock, and then with positive manifold pressure

Talking Turbo pics are here

Well, here are some pics of the turbo on and in my car. I am still planning on going to the track sometime soon and getting 1/4 mile times.

Congrats Kastle!

I have been wanting to see this for a long time. Please give us all the juicy details, PLEASE. Boost pressure, times, times and more times *Mouth Foaming*. Tell me you got a Level 10 Tranny like Blondeman. I love something different than the norm.

Wow!!! Keep us posted, that's too sweet. The turbo looks like it belongs there, you know? It seems like the SVX was almost engineered to be a turbo candidate from the factory...and a lot of people ask me if my SVX has 'the turbo' or not. I have to sadly inform them that it never came with a turbo... But this! Some 1/4 mile times would be cool too- nice, very nice.

If only you knew...

The test mules of the SVX even had twin-turbo decals on them.
