Question I/C spray bottle?

Im making an I/C sprayer and I dont wanna use the washer bottle. My question is how big (i.e. 1 quart, 1 gallon..) bottle should I get? I live in WA so I dont realy need it that offten But I have noticed that my i/c is rather warm. I plan on making a pressure switch system that will come on at 8~10 p.s.i. with th STi auto ****ch that way it wont be on all the time. I was thinking about a 1 quart bottle, but I was worreid that Id have to be putting more water in it every day. Oh and I dont want to put the bottle in the trunk.

Well then you dont have much to choose from, I dont think you can fit any sizeable container under the hood. If you are not using your intake resonator then plug the hole in the bottom, cut off the tube to the airbox and seal that hole then close up the snorkel input tube except for a hole for water in/out. Instant water tank thats sizeable otherwize you probably wont be able to fit anything larger than a sports water bottle.

I used a washer bottle out of a Hyundai Accent and located it in the passenger's fenderwell. Since this washer bottle has two pumps I have one pump hooked up to my UTEC and one pump running on a manual switch. This method could be used on either side of the car, however, you do have to drill a hole in some of the sheet metal to fit the filler neck. I'll post some pics later in the week.

I would pickup a USDM 04 STi trunk mounted I/C spary bottle. Your local Subaru parts department should be able to order the part.

mkultra69:

You might reconsider using the existing washer bottle. Unless you are going to be racing on a track, I don't think it is worth the complexity of an automatic system. For "Sport" driving and Autocross etc., a momentary switch and the washer bottle works well. (Automatic systems require a large tank, and usually some type of pump that can run dry without burning up).

Another nice thing about the washer bottle is there is a location for a second pump already. You only need to buy a pump (From any auto parts store) and drill a hole through the washer tank. Push the new pump in and do the wiring and you are done.

Regards,
