I also left the parking light orange. It makes sense.

I'm one of those people! EDIT: I found the pics of that car. BTW, I did the oven/black paint mod on my Integra's JDM lights and they look 1000x better as well. Instead of spray paint I used RustOleum outdoor paint and a paint brush. No problems yet.

Cleared the STI headlights today...

I blacked out the housing too. It really looks good on Silver.

I'd post a picture, but I'm not sure how to? I've got the digital photo - I just don't know how to post it on NASOIC.

If someone would be kind enough to explain it to be, I'll put up a picture.

the picture has to be hosted somewhere online... Once it is online you then press the IMG button while typing a message and insert the URL to the image and then it will appear in the post. If you don't have a way to get it online, e-mail it to me at my hotmail account. by clicking on the email button at the bottom of one of my posts...

Good Luck!

WOW!! That looks really slick!

Being a "Koji" headlight mod guy myself with my 02 WRX, I love that look on the 04's!! It's awesome!

skivvie, thanks for the procedure. i just did my white sti. i love to look. now i wanna get some amber blinkers for the full jdm look.

i have three small suggestion to the procedure as stated:

1) mention that there are *9* little black screws (in addition tot he two silver screws) that need to be removed from each light. when i was doing it, i hoped that i'd removed all the screws.

2) you mention using pot holders. i used a pair of mechanix gloves and they are perfect. everyone should have a pair. they resist heat and give you good finger dexterity.

3) someone else mentioned that they scratched up the bumper liner below the headlight. so did i. (i didn't see this comment until now.) they mentioned putting down some masking tape to prevent the scratches. this seems like a really good suggestion.

okay, that's it. thanks again!

Default amber bulbs painted silver

I forgot to add that i had done this...

I bought the Polarg M1 bulbs, Amber color, 12v/21watts mentioned earlier in this thread. Then i got a can of chrome colored spray paint, stuck the socket of the bulbs in some foam, and lightly coated them with the chrome paint until they were almost completely silver. Put them in and it looks perfect, completely clear/silver headlights, but you still have amber turn signals. Be careful after you paint them though, because even barely touching them will scratch off the paint. I'll try and take some pics if i remember.

Which also reminds me... my cleared headlights will probably be up for sale soon... have some USDM STi HID's on the way!

Okie, I just did mine this weekend. I wanted to be a little different. I wanted headlights with no Ambers and I also wanted headlights with ambers. My dilemma...

In the end, I decided to just take the side ambers out and just leave the turn signal ambers in.

I did this because it's not common because people either leave ambers out or leave all of them in. And another thing is that I won't have problems finding an "amber" 7440 turn signal light. The regular 7440s are less expensive and easier to locate.

What do you guys think? I think it's clean.

Looks good. Thanks for the picture. This is what I planned to do on my Silver '04. I think the turn-signal amber gives the housing more internal definition. Somewhat like painting the housing, but more subtle. The side-marker amber reflectors just look a little crude and removing them gives a nice clean look.

MisterWRX could you show a full frontal view OF YOUR CAR ONLY ...the reason I ask is that I also have an aspen white '04 and I was thinking about doing this mod.

Just to throw it out there...has anyone painted the interior of the lights to match the body colour of their car (rather than just black)??? If yes, pics please. White would be best, but any colour would be fine, except black of course.

thanx in advance

I wanted to paint mine White to match with the car BUT Irealized that it would be too monotonous. The Black headlight JDM mod looks even better for White car because it adds contrast. It draws people in when they look at your car. Anyway, here's a full shot of my car. If you want a head on shot I can post that later.

Does anyone have a clear and close up pic of an 04 headlight housing, cleared and painted black? Just wanted to see up close what should be painted, and what shouldn't.
