I just did this the other day and I got my chromed, amber blinking bulbs too. They work great and the total cost was only ~$10 for both.

Here is the link: (they are close to bottom of page, have to scroll through tons of other bulbs to get to these ones) http://www.autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm.

Will they pass you if you just have colored bulbs, or are they requiring the reflector pieces?

Doing this now. My 2 cents. 10 minutes is fine.

Did 10 on the first one and it came apart but with a bit of muscle. Did the second one at 15 and the clear part of the lens that was barely touching the cooking stray started to melt. not the end of the world just looks a but white.

So 10 is my reccomendation

Thanks OP for the DIY

Don't forget to get chrome bulbs. #7440 + #194.

This was super easy. 10mm wrench, Flat head & Small Phillips.

word from someone who has torn his headlights apart NOW 3 TIMES...

SEAL THEM GOOD.

i had condensation after the 2nd time tearing apart (1st time i just took amber out, 2nd i painted the bezel flat black with a a clear coat ( looks much better than gloss finish )

and i failed to add more sealant, and alas they had condensation all over in them..

dont take the chance like i did! seal them good!

Remember if you do it right the first time, you don't have to open them up again to fix your mistakes.

I used windshield sealant from autozone. It's black silicone stuff from autozone. I applied it before I put it back in the oven to loosen up the older sealant.
