wrx rear differential/axles in a legacy?

Hi all, asked this question a while back in the transmission forum just to be confused. Some body said that one alxe is longer than the other and some other stuff.
What i would like to know is if the 02 wrx rear differential and axles will bolt right up in a 96 legacy without any issuses. Anyone know?

Don't know, but a good start would be to compare the wheelbase of the 2 cars. If one is wider than the other, chances are they won't match right up.

I think you mean compare the "track".......wheelbase is the distance between wheel centres on the same side of the car! track refers to the distance between wheels on the same axle....

Check spline count
Also check if axles are male or female connection to differential

There is a thread on the board somewhere that I know I've seen. IIRC, it talks specifically about this issue and even more specifically about axle lengths v-a-v Legacy and the WRX applications and should answer your questions. I'm sure you've already done a search but try "hub legacy shaft wrx" as your criteria and go back at least a year. That may pull it up

Wish I could search but dialup takes too long. Perhaps when I get home. Good luck and re-post what you find out.
