Post update

Just wanted to let you know that my car is going in to have the clutch checked out on the 14th. It's actually acting pretty weird now, sometimes. The other day it felt as if the tranny was falling out, when I started off from a light... major, major shuddering. The service manager acted as if this was the first he's heard of these problems, however, I hope it's not indicative of things to come! Wish me luck!

Lisa

Get your ammunition ready. Get a case number from Subaru of America, arm yourself as best you can with sound arguments, etc. If you do, you won't need it, murphy's law.

Cool

I'm headed to "IT" as well! When are you going up? My buddy and I are trying to hit Acadia Nat'l Park either before or after the show(s).

Good luck with the clutch. And definitely prepare your arguements.

Peace,
Oquipah

Thumbs up

Ditto, we plan on doing the same thing! Lots of camping.... along the coast... most likely afterwards. We just got back from 4 days at Bonnaroo too!

The clutch is not a biggy, unless of course, they DON'T fix it... until then, I'll just adjust my driving style. Just feel like I'm burning the clutch that way though....

Peace
Lisa

Lisa,

I reread my post and though I should expand on it a bit.

I had a problem with the silly automatic seatbelt on the driver's side from that generation of cars (1994). I had heard rumors that carmakers take problems involving safety a little more seriously than others, so I felt comfortable, even with a 7-8 year old car (at the time), that they would do something for me.

My service manager really beat around the bush on the phone when I explained things, so I wanted to arm myself a little better. I asked around on another board, and they told me about opening a case number with Subaru. There's a 800 # that I'll try to find for you. When I called back and told the service manager that I had a case #, things started happening. Bottom line = $0 spent by me, two visits to the dealer (because they tried a minimal fix the first time, imagine that) and I had a completely new motor and track for the seatbelt.

Good luck.

Jim

Thanks Jim.

I have had experience with these things in the past too.. unfortunately. One of the cars I bought was a lemon (Volvo XC) and it was a difficult battle for me... but I won!

I spoke to my salesman and it turns out, he has an '02 Outback with MT and the SAME PROBLEM! I think that really works in my favor. He called me today and reminded me to call the Service dept. next week and make sure they had all the parts in, before I take my car in!

Center Subaru, Torrington, CT, thus far has treated me really well! (knock on wood..)

Peace all.

Good to hear. Here's the number just in case ... 800-SUBARU3.
