Unhappy CV Boots?

As I was working on the SVX the other day, I took a look at the CV Boots on the front and each of them were cracked. The front driver's was real bad looking.

Has anyone else had this problem? How difficult is the fix? Any part numbers or cost estimates would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

I have a front split boot and plan to have it changed when I have my "real" SVX transmission installed (for those who DON'T know, long story).

Part numbers are:
R&L inner cv boot 28023PA010
R&L outer cv boot 28023PA000
You'll probably need new clamps:
Large (quantity 4) 23242GA410
Small (quantity 4) 23242GA400

Can't help you on a cost estimate, since my replacement will be done in conjunction with the tranny replacement -- anyone else?

UPDATE: I ordered all the parts listed above (of course x2 for each boot), from www.subaruparts.com, in order to replace all boots when the tranny goes in. Cost of parts was just over 50 bucks. Normal ground shipping was only 5 bucks. I opted for overnight shipping at 15 bucks (cuz parts usually languish for two days in Chicago when ordered standard ground -- making total shipping around 5 days).

Hi,

I had the front left inner/outer cv boots changed at Unitech autos in Berkeley when I first got the car- labor was $75, and he charged $37.34 for the boots. Hope this helps.
