Exclamation Tiptronic AT on the 2005 Legacy... your opinions?

The idea sounds wicked, having a tiptronic auto with the 2005 Legacy sport models. The styling on the new car is different, but I suppose I will grow to like it with time (it IS a Subaru after all ).

I dunno if Subaru is starting to market to a more high-end market, or if they are starting to emulate aspects of Porsche quality into their work. What's your call? As for me, Subaru's got me confused. I thought I had my plan down pat - a '97 or '98 2.5GT with an aftermarket turbo and the appropriate bits. But now... the new Subarus are starting to get my attention.

The new Legacies are coming... buy one or get out of the way.

If the tiptronic is the same as is used in the 3rd gen legacy gt's...I'd say its a waste of money if you HAVE to get the GT package. But if they are smart about it and make it an option on base level legacy's then I would be interested in it.

I drove a '03 GT and was not impressed whatsoever with the shifting. It is the same as an automatic, and downshifting was just horrible. It took 3 seconds to downshift, and the car just lurches forward when you do it. It would definitely be nice for just normal driving, but not a 4000 dollar option.
