Thumbs up Carbotech Brake Pads

I've recently installed (with the advice from Mike @Subaruxtras.com) Carbotech Bobcat Brake pads. As we all know the brakes on the Wrx are one of a few things that I think definitely needed some attention. I want to use my stock rims for the winter so I did not want to go with bigger rotors. Everything they claim is true. The pedal feels a lot firmer, excellent initial bite and amazing response under hard stops. For just a replacement pad I'm extremely happy with the results. They also make track/racing pads (check out subaruxtras.com site under carbotech).

Does anyone have an opinion on stock replacement slotted rotors?

I also have the Carbotech Bobcat Steet pads and I am very happy with them.
I am using dba slotted rotors front and rear and so far they are great. Throw in some stainless brake lines like I did and you are ready for anything short of real race tracks.

About as much as stock pads I think. Much less than some of the other high performace pads.

The worst thing about them is most people have a squeek problem. A few of us locally have them and they all squeek, and no amount of anti-squeal will help.
I can live with it, it is not that loud, but it does bother some people.

Mine don't squeak that often. If it does, it's very minimal in sound. The dust is VERY minimal compared to say the AXXIS Deluxe Pads.

Do they mostly squeak when slowly coming to a stop? My Ultimates seem to squeak a lot, but it seems to be only when my foot is barely on the brake. Now dust, that's a different story!

Yup, when lightly braking they make noise. Like said above, not every time you stop, but it does it often enough that I notice.

There are some older threads about beveling the edges on the Carbotechs to stop the squeal, do might do a search to dig some stuff up.

My current Axxis Ultimates used to squeak everytime i cruise on the freeway and then i just tap the brakes, they would squeak. But now that has stopped and they don't do it anymore.

Default temperature sensitive

Installed for 2 months now with Racing brake rotors, SS brake line and motul 600. my impressions are mixed;
Yes, very good initial bite and firm pedal feel; But, the fade came soon after several repeated hard stops !
First braking in the morning needs hard pedal pressure.
Anyone with the same result ?

How often do you change the brake fluid?

I think he changed it 2 months ago...

The Bobcats like a little heat to work. I find the first stop or 2 to need a little more pressure. I have not managed to get them to fade on the street, and I run the Panther Plus at the track, so no fade there either.

Great all around pads.

Mine have a good feel too, but sometimes they make a clicking noise when I come to a stop. o well, seems like all brakes make some noise.

Hmmm, I just put the pads on my car, I think they are great. I am used to the factory crap over heating, so anything is better that. Isnt Motel DOT 5?
