I have searched this board and found info, but im still a little confused on some things for a turbo kit for my car. I have a 2000 impreza rs 2.5. i would like to get a turbo kit that will produce some good power but use it as a daily driver as its my only car. I dont want to go boost crazy but want to have a good performer. I am looking at the lude speed stage 2 kit and i was wondering if that is good for me? What other parts will i need to run htis kit? I know i have to get a bigger exhaust as my 2.25 cat back system will not cut it. Do i really need that new fuel pump? i heard that its not very reliable on other posts. also i am worried about the system management? will the safe guard do the job and be safe to use? i would hate to spend more money as im on a tight budget. also i am curious to know, i ordered the torque chip 2, will this run in conjunction with the turbo kit? im assuming its needed to run boost over 3 psi. i know when my brother owned the same car as me, he had it turbo charged but didnt have the engine management options or the torque chip for use as it was none existent. All the info will help me out. thanks
Garrett

i think milk man is talking about the ej20 swap. putting the 2.0l turbo engine in your rs. I however opted for the ludespeed stage 3 with stand alone managemnt and rc 440cc injectors. I plan on running about 7 pounds of boost. It's a lil hot here in vegas to be running the full 9.5psi. but should yeild plenty of power to the wheels. I had to upgrade my stock clutch to take the power but the kit should be safe if tuned well for a long time. Good luck!
Cheers! -Ryan |

Yea i am leaning towards the stage 2 and just plan on running the 6psi setup. i should be fine with out the injectors and the link management system. i dont plan on going overboard. But the thing is i wont be able to get the kit for maybe 6 months from now. i hope ludespeed still sells the kits by than.

The kits are fine. Just make sure you have GOOD ENGINE MANAGMENT ! I like these turbos too;
http://www.pdmturbos.com/ also http://www.forcedairtech.com/ and will be putting it in MY00 Legacy. There are several things that I have to swap out that is different from the RS electrical but all in all it should run just fine, and be very reliable. You will be reading for days on what is better. Just make sure it is all tuned with someone who knows what there doing and your fine. Good Luck! |

I have had a Ludespeed stage 2 kit for about a year now and still love it. I run right off the wastegate which gives me about 5 or 5 1/2psi. I see no problem with the stage 2 kit. It is all in the tuning and driving. You beat your car and it will bite back. A clutch is the only other thing that you will need. The J&S and Cartech FMU with 6psi you should have no trouble.

I dont beat my car, i just like to have a little fun now and than. My car is my baby and i just want to have it run as good as possible. Plus it is my only car. I will probably order is within the next 6 months. I just hope the kits are still offered and the prices dont go up.
