Default 2.5 turbo from Forester XT

I hope I'm posting the thread in the right forum. But in any case. I have a 2001 Impreza RS and am quite curious if the turbo kit fitted on the forester will fit perfectly into my engine bay. Checking out the specs on the forester I noticed that the engine is DOHC instead of SOHC which is what I have. Would that be a problem. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. I am aware of the turbo kits from companies like Ludespeed and so on but what I was really hoping on doing is drop in the stock setup that the forester is using, first because it will probably be cheaper and I'm assuming more reliable, not to call the other turbo kits unreliable but I hope you understand my drift. Plus the power that the forester produces would be perfect to what I'm looking for.

Remember this... the XT uses the same motor as the STi. Just smaller injectors, and a smaller turbo and intercooler. MUCH lower compression than your RS motor has, and running 12.5psi in your RS motor without lowering the compression and good engine management will be less than reliable.

I would say either do a complete motor swap or stick with a kit designed for the N/A RS motor. LudeSPEED kits are great. I have one on my car, and so do 2 of my friends. The Stage II kit should put your RS right at the power level of the XT anyway.

Good luck.

so you are saying the forester turbo has the exact same block and heads and internals as the STi?

**goes to look for a wrecked forester turbo**

The STI and Forester XT more then likely share the same shortblock as subaru is still a partsbin company. Then again, subaru has been known to do some crazy ass stuff for no apparient reason....

there has been alot of talk about this on the Forester Forum of this site...

The only difference in the heads between the XT and the STi is the camshafts...
