Default Nokian WR's

Has anybody every tried these on their subaru's? I am not sure if I should get them, or the Dunlop SP 5000 AS's when my OEM tires wear out... which is soon....

Thanks in advance!

Lisa

Hi Lisa

If you are refering to the NRW's ... yes ... I have a set and they are a very good all season tire ... aggressive tread design, quiet, very good in wet and for an all season ... very good in dry conditions ... also a VERY good tire on dirt and gravel ... superb for rallycross events .... I'm very happy with them ..

I've driven them in serious winter conditions as well ... and felt very comfortable with them and pleased with their performance as an all-season tire ..

my two cents ...

Thumbs up

The WR is the "replacement" for the NRW in the Nokian lineup. It appears to have the same purpose, and has a very similar, if not identical tread pattern. I'd guess they changed the compound just enough to want to give it a new name.

I'm running NRW's on the Impreza- it seems to be a great all-around tire. It's my wife's car, so I don't drive it every day, but I've had it out in snow and in warm weather. Very nice.

--I don't know anyone who doesn't like the NRW as an all-season-- presuming the WR is similar, you will likely be happy.

i ran nokian WRs on my WRX last winter. Had great traction and fantastic handling. Can't wait 'til I put them on again.

I'm guessing this is for an L or GT Legacy...

yes, it's for an '02 Legacy GT Wagon. So nobody likes the Dunlops? How would you say they compare? I am a fairly aggressive driver...

i believe the 5000's have a higher speed rating.

dunlops are generally accepted as good on snow/etc. Nokian WRs have sipes - not sure about the Dunlops.

webkris and khaos on the board both ran them on their WRXen during winters...

the WR/NRW is snow rated like a "real" winter tire,

the SP5000s are not, they are just all season, M & S rated tires.(for those who aren't familiar, M & S means nothing except that the contact patch is 25% treadless, the nomenclature is a left over from the 50s and 60s when people still drove around with non radial tires.)

have had one season with NRW on my 98 GT, very nice though I think the snow/ice traction is not quite up to the Artic Alpins I had before.
