I'm going to go ahead and down-tune it a bit. I am a little afraid of it becasue its so powerfull, so I am going to get a custom, restrictive intake and exhaust. Also, if Subaru reflashes ECU's to retard the timing some, I will make sure they get mine extra good. Maybe put some nice all-seasons on it. After I save up enough cash, I may even do a 4eat swap into it.

Its a joke.

Unhappy hello?

I'm sorry, Mods??

Are some people still in denial... So far the car we have been waiting for has a possible chronic engine problem. So far the company that we've been supporting is MUM on the whole topic. So far I can say i'm a little dissapointed. Yes I am on a list, yes I would like the car, but there is no way I will buy one until this problem is fixed. Can anyone really ignore this issue hoping there car will be one of the "good ones"? I think that waiting, although difficult at times is the thing to do.. Why take a risk? Its hard to possibly let go of something you wanted for awhile but I guess thats life.. My WRX is still a great car that doesn't ping..

Nope not really worried. Out of the 3 people here that I know with stis none of their cars ping. Not many people have reported this to dealers so subaru has not had a reason to react full force yet, if it is a big enough problem they will fix it if they dont then they will be replacing engines. Arent there enough threads about this already that it isnt nessacarry to bring it up in this one?

That sounds like the sky is falling. Take a deep breath and relax.

I have plans to do: Turbo xs turboback, Turbo xs uppipe, ssr competition wheels, sumitomo htr+ tires, pullies, gauges, ebc, turbo timer, perrin pulleys, tein coilovers, cusco headers and the sti cf wing instead of the stock one. Should put me in mid 12s.

No pinging in mine...630 miles so far. No plans other than drive it so far. Having made a show car before...don't do it to an STi! At least, if you do, don't get a body kit that's prone to scraping and don't swap out for adjustable suspension... (PT show car...my STi is daily driver.)

Default Autocross it

Leave it "box stock" and autocross it in AS until the Evo drivers demand their money back!!

yeeeeeahhhhhhaaaaaa!!

IF and WHEN I see a modded STi beating me at the track, I'll consider what mods actually work.

I've driven a several modded WRX's and find them slower than the stock WRX in most situations and the times at the track back this up.

Maybe we should wait for the alignment of the moons before the first mod.

Default Short Shifter???

The only negative I've seen in reviews is something about the shifter throws being too long. Who knows of a short throw shifter to use?

I thought that wasn't going to be likely to be made, because of the reverse lockout.

Default Short Throw Kit

Is it just me or does the USDM STi's box feel like it's already relatively short?

How the hell can you detune an STi you bought it hopefully for what it is a 4 door AWD racecar that is the best performance for the buck. If you are scared of it sell it. I can't believe someone would restrict it... Jeez should have saved 10-15 grand and bought a stationwagon preferably one with woodgrain side panels or a Cavalier and trick it out like every other ***. I'm not saying act like an idiot with it, Respect It and Appreciate It, but use it for why you bought it. What a waste of money if your going to detune it CRAZY!!!
