Looks great man!

Here's mine, while not an STi I get in plenty of trouble with her!

Don't buy JDMs, do it yourself. It saves $600 and doesn't blind oncomming trafic!

Good Luck, and as Pitbul09 said, if we can do it, [Rob Schnieder voice] YOU CAN DO IT![/Rob Schnieder voice]

I used Skivvie's instructions found here:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=384488

I have an 04 wrx and that is what these instructions are written for, so ask Pitbul about anything different on an STi. I took off anything metal on the back that I could, all lights and wire, because I knew they would be hot when they came out of the oven. I did 10 minutes at 225, now that it summer that's all it takes. Good Luck!
Let me know if you have any questions.

yea i got the direction that jacobsen1 linked me too, but for me 10 min wasnt enought so i put them back in i would say go with 15 to make sure the sealent is soft, there is a wire in between the headlights on the sti's that is very hard to remove so i kept them in there. Again this is very easy mod just a little time and patience.

I think he meant orange, but there aren't any except for the parking light bulb. I left mine in, for the "legal look" All white is looking for trouble IMO.

Wierd 10 minutes wasn't enough for you pitbul. I did mine around noon though so maybe they were warm already. They came right apart without any effort after the 10 minutes for me. Weird... Some of the other mod pages say 20 and 25 even, so whatever work I guess. I just found all the pages and they ranged from 10~25 minutes so I figured go with the lowest and see how it worked and it did for me. Someone else on here did a set without even putting them in the oven, so I guess that just shows how much it varies by the temp outside that day...

Car looks great though, you lucky STi ownin' ... If you are ever in RI you are going to have to give me a ride. I love those STis, I just can't afford the payments, insurance, or tickets... YET. Funny thing is that I haven't seen one driving yet, only on the lot so far.

anyone going to attempt to make it appear smoked out like the JDM? anyone with jdm lights or know the exact difference: where would you paint to make it smoked? the reflective silver parts?

anyone ever do this or am i looking into something that would potentially make my lights look too cool and have to buy new ones again .

I did the mod on my BLUE STi and after installing the lamps back they look already dark and smoked. They definitely do not look cheap plastic-Chrome rice color. I am happy the way they look already. All I need know is the yellow bulb for the signal, what type of bulb is that?

P.S. I am not sure if there are "SMOKED" lamps in JAPAN, I think they are all the same. I got the projector lamps for my 02 come JAPAN which supposedly they all come smoked but I did not noticed any smoked effect on them.

The easiest way to get new bulbs in orange is to go to your dealer and get a set of spare rear turn signal bulbs. Yep same bulb, just orange. $5 bucks each. I'm painting mine orange.

Here's my attempt at clearing the lights today... Took me about an hour with some breaks (cleared my '03 WRX headlights, so I knew the process).

CreoWRX,

I never understood the draw/reasoning for this 'mod', unitll I saw your excellent picture.

Now I get it.
An excellent example of how a picture is worth a thousand words!

Thanks,

I love the looks of the cleared lights. I am just too chicken s**t to do that to my HIDS. What if it's not sealed properly and water gets into the HIDS. BOOM.

But, I even scewed up the clear parking light mod for my RS. SO, you can imagine that I would be paranoid.

I plan on doin a semigloss black on mine to go with the JBP, about that wire.....is it possible to move the lens out of the way enough to remove the middle chrome piece? I'm afraid i'm little confused eversince this mystery wire popped out of nowhere.
