Default do you think the STI will be around for a good number of years?

i have the 04 wrx now, but might want to upgrade to an STI. i could almost do it now, but im very much against buying a first year model of a car. and i dont want to buy a used one. i want a fresh one with like <5 miles on it

If Subaru had demand it will be here. Don't worry, the STi models will be around for a long time.

I think it will be a little like the USDM 97--01 Type-R's, but with more. You should be good!

Not so fast,

I have heard that mitsu has not even decided if they will bring the EVO back next year. IMHO I think we need to look at the economy and the EVO sales. The mitsu dealer near my house sold there first 2, they have had 3 arrive since then and they are all 3 still on the showroom floor and they are not even asking MSRP. Checking around the Suby dealers this week (I am curious to see how the STi is doing in it's sales) I found alot just sitting on lots. Being some what of a realist and economist if sales dont pick up on both cars by summers end then I think there might be a grim future for our STi. The start of fall heading towards winter erges to buy nice vehicles such as performance sedans goes right out the window. Sales from September thru the end of the year will be aweful. The sales soud pick up come March 04 but it may not be enough to convence Suby to extend the STi to the next year. I just had this same disccusion with the sales manager at the Mitsu dealer due to the fact that my wife just got a VR-X Diamante, the sales manager agreed 100%
DISCLAIMER: I have not heard anything from the Subaru "camp" about any decisions on what are even thinking of doing, I could be wrong about the STi.
How ever, the EVO's might be doomed to a one year stent.
Just my opinion so no flames please

Call me crazy but perhaps mark ups of $5000-$20,000 may have something to do with Evo sales not being as good as they could be.

and trenity8_u_up - i totally agree with you, we are going into a dark dark economy (as far as i can see), and people are throwing their money away even paying msrp for a car that in a few months will be selling hundreds above invoice...imho of course! i pray that the sti is here to stay for years though; i wont be able to buy one for several!

Umm (no this not flaming you) obviously you did not try to buy an STi last month. Trust me on this one I called dealers up to 1500 miles away from me, over half were asking $2500 over or more, of that half about half were either asking $5000 over or just saying they were going to have closed bids on the car. I found mine for MSRP which was still high IMO but I wanted it now so I paid it.
You are right though, this does hurt sales on both the STi and the EVO but what I talked about above is the plain truth. Dont get me wrong, I want them to be around for a few years (although the thoughts of owning an STi here that was only produced one maybe two years is sad and exciting all at the same time).

Again just my opinion and it has seemed to be the same opinion that 20 year veterans in the auto business have agreed with.

Ya I must have missed that part about MSRP. Perhaps you could say I highlighted the problem. Or you could say I should be more attentive.

Just forgot to highlight the STi.
