Default What about an exhaust bypass

Was watching "trucks" a few months ago and the host was installing an exhaust bypass onto the truck. Purpose was to get stock sounds for regular driving and increased performance and great sounds when you want them. I had God's up and down pipes on my 02 rex with a Borla and I found it VERY loud for everyday (three kids on long trips). I would like to do this by pass thingy which would basically hook up in either the down pipe or after. Is this making any sense. What are your thoughts? Power potential?

Maybe you should consider this exhaust system. It has a variable electronic exhaust bypass (doesn't dump it out, still exits the tailpipe).

cool exhaust

I've thought about it too. This looks like a great solution!

One that I was thinking of:
Turn your car into a "dual exhaust" car. One muffler would be a straight through design, the other would be the highly restrictive, but quiet, STi exhaust.

Problems would be fitment and extra weight.

The above mentioned design looks ideal.
